    New Project... 1991 FJ80

Been a minute since I have updated this build thread. Rear axle finished and now under the Cruiser. I built new control arms for the rear as the stock ones are fairly flimsy and not adjustable...and the new rear arms are 1.25" longer than stock, which re-centered the axle in the wheel well. Sold...

The oil pan was a bitch to remove. There are 22 bolts holding it on, but those were easy. The OEM cork gasket was the culprit. Toyota must use a special kind of cork that seems to turn into JB Weld like properties. I had to use a piece of 2x4 on the pan and a small bottle jack against the frame...

    New Project... 1991 FJ80

Been working on the Land Cruiser here and there when I have had the time. Found out that the valve cover I had on the motor, which was there when I bought it, was the wrong one. It seems someone ghetto fab'd a 2F valve cover to work on a 3FE motor. Tracked down the correct one and got that...

Pulled the rear third the other day, just need to box it up and send it off to get gears and the ARB installed. Front third has been built and is currently enroute. I was also reminded why I despise drum brakes...took longer to get the damn drums off than to do the rest of the work and that...

    New Project... 1991 FJ80

So after taking in the advice some of y'all provided and doing some more research, I decided to do 5.29's instead of the 4.88's. Appreciate the input .

    New Project... 1991 FJ80

Over the past couple of weeks I have been able to get a few things done on the Land Cruiser. Old shitty seats are gone, replaced with some Corbeau Seats. Ridiculously small center console was removed and a Tuffy universal console was put in...huge difference. Did some cleaning of the dash area...

What is your reasoning for the 5.29 over 4.88's ?

I remember that Cruiser, he did a fairly detailed write up on it on Pirate if I remember correctly.

Appreciate the info, hoping to find a rear F/F closer to where I live, Tallahassee FL. May have to take a road trip.

    New Project... 1991 FJ80

Anyone have a lead on a rear full float axle out of a 93 to 97 FJ80 or LX450 ? I found two but the people offering them were a tad ridiculous....$1200 for one that was missing the hubs and spindles and $1750 for a complete one  I get it, there not laying around in every pick n pull but...

    New Project... 1991 FJ80

Nothing too crazy, will need to re-gear it, likely go with 4.88. RCV shafts in the front, swap rear end to a full float out of a 93 to 97. Freshen the interior up, winch...rework the front bumper and fab up a new rear bumper. Need to build a storage rack inside...not an "overlander pack every...

    New Project... 1991 FJ80

So, like many others have done, I have decided to sell my dedicated crawler. Friends have gotten out of it, life taking a different direction, etc... are all reasons behind this decision. That being said, I still want to get out and enjoy the outdoors...hence, the new project. I picked up a 1991...

    YJ Build...just a little different.

I was able to get the ram mount mocked up today, should have it welded in later in the week. Initially I ordered a TMR Customs mount but once it arrived I realized it was too big and way overkill for my axle. Made my own out of 1/4" plate. One piece is 6"x9" and will sit on top with the three...
