Sold/Expired 1994 ford explorer

A friend at work is selling his dad's old explorer for cheap. I don't know much about it other than I know it needs a battery, but runs if jumped. And that the ignition has a push button installed because the switch was giving them trouble. They're moving to Knoxville on 3/21, so they'd like it gone by then. But, we can make arrangements if you need a day or two to come get it.

What does starts but needs work mean? Can it be trusted on a two hour drive? If so, I would be a very serious buyer! I may could even come get it first thing in the morning

Sale is pending. From I was told, it needs a battery. But once jumped, runs fine. One tire leaks down over a week. Something about a door handle is broken. Other than that, I'm under the impression it's a decent car. I haven't seen it, But I trust the owners. Overall, it's a $600 car. If it falls through tomorrow then I'll let y'all know.
