2 probably stupid questions...

Stupid Question 1:
Installed a new clutch m/c in my '91 Exploder. I wormed it through the firewall while a buddy hooked the rod to the pedal and clipped the rod into the m/c. Doofus forgot to put the rod through the clutch pedal sensor. Can I just bypass this thing without it being hot all the time and draining my battery? It would be nice to not have to depress the clutch every time I bump it over for things other than driving.

Stupid Question 2:
CB won't pick up anything. What am I doing wrong?

I put jumpers in all my Toyotas, even though they have a " clutch start cancel" button on the dash...

Antenna probably isn't grounded good.

Did you key up the mic with no antenna attached? Used too, you could blow one to bits if the antenna wasn't connected.....bad design if you ask me. I had a cobra 29 ??? Or so go to **** because the antenna wire in the back backed off and was dangling.

And am I see mother trucking blue tooth on a cb? What is this world coming too when your Bluetooth headset is cackling white noise and reverb directly to your brain?

Have you tuned the antenna yet? I had a midland in my jeep and the antenna was so out of tune to the radio that I initially could not get anything on it until I hooked up a SWR meter and tuned it.

Have you ever noticed there is a cap on the end of fiberglass antennas? The wire at the end plays one part and how the cable is routed plays another part. If you bunch the leftover cable up it creates an RF trap and causes ****ty reception. The wire at the end of the antenna plays a big role in the swr's. There is a meter that you have to use to get it to optimal reception. There really is a science to CB radios.

Reminded me of a pretty funny story. Locally there's a cute little jeep forum and before I built my buggy I tried to fit in with the jeep crew. On the board there was a guy who started posting up in the discussion section about jeep stuff.

His screen name was lot lizard.

So maybe a couple weeks go by and I see his name changed. So I thought WTF ?

Keep in mind I had no idea what a lot lizard was. Lol

So couple more months go by and I'm at one of my dealerships and theres a kid changin oil inside. His jeep is parked out front with that forum sticker on it. So I go in and ask him about it. After a couple minutes of talking I say, oh yeah you're that guy whose name was lot lizard !!

His face turned beet red and he ended the conversation. I go home that night and tell my wife about it. She tells me what a lot lizard is.

So was the kid blowin dudes at the truck stop? Who knows? Wtf is wrong with people? Lol

If you're gonna mess with CB's much you need a standing wave meter or swr. $20 or less on ebay, youtube for instructions. You have to adjust your antenna to mount/cable resistance by having a good mount with as much contact as possible, next adjust swr by adjusting cable length. Store bought cable is built by making it a fraction of a wavelength, 1/4 wavelength, 1/2, 5/8 etc. you might need to adjust it by a foot or so. Finally fine tune it by pulling the cap off your antenna and cutting the wire. This should be the last step since coax and a new end is a couple bucks, a new antenna is well.......

Your 29 has a sir meter flip 1 St rocker switch on left down to swr call then hold mic trigger on watch meter 1 is the best! To bring swr down turn the knob on far right says swr call both ways till swr reads 1. Also cut the talk back on same knob to make sure speaker is working :cougar:
