I LIKE CHEAP STUFF.....
This is the ole lady's old truck she drove the **** out of for 5 or 6 yrs. Runs fine but is nothing more than a $1k old wore out truck. Someone could put a little time into fixing some small stuff on it and have a decent work truck or flip it and make a few hundred. The longer I hang onto it, I will eventually fix some things on it and ask more for it. But in order to just get rid of it, as my free time to work on it is limited, we would take $1k to get it gone so I don't have to move it everytime I mow.
2000 Dodge Durango 4x4, leather, power everything, 3rd row, 5.9L v8, 215k miles, 9.25" rear axle (thanks MoparMan), supposedly had a new tranny put in a few yrs ago, rebuilt ***le.
The bad:
T-case leaks either from output seal or around back plate, hard to tell. Usually put a bottle of ATF in it every month or two when it was being daily driven.
A/C does not work. Have not tried anything other than jumping the compressor to bypass low pressure switch to see if it kicks on, and it does. I imagine it has a freon leak somewhere.
Slack in steering wheel, slack in driver seat (moves about a half inch forward and backward on the tracks).
Rebuilt ***le.
4wd shifter in the floor moves freely, so either the linkage was not hooked back up after tranny was installed, or it's broke. I looked under it briefly, and it's a tight space so i couldn't tell much. No option on shifter for 2wd, so I'm assuming it's full time 4wd.
I believe the brake booster is going out, or could be master cylinder. She said it wasn't doing this when she parked it last year after buying new vehicle. Brake pedal will nearly go to the floor before it starts braking, but it will lock the tires up if you want it to. I've driven it around town, so the brakes are there, they are just sketchy as of now.
Other than that, it's solid. She was driving this thing daily last year and parked it last October. I got the alternator rebuilt and put a brand new Interstate battery on it this weekend (not pictured), and it cranks and runs fine. 5.9L pulls hard too. Tranny seems to shift fine handles the road well besides the slack in the steering wheel and the now sketchy brakes.
Last year I replaced the driver front hub bearing assembly and the passenger tie rod end, and put two new tires on the front. Haven't noticed any leaks under the hood or anywhere other than the t-case.
