2010 Wheelers of Washington 2nd Annual Elbe Hills Fun Run Pics...

We're already planning for next year...

Hopefully we can get a lot of things done out there to make it a better experience for everyone...

I think we need some "Team Elbe" t-shirts...

In the last vid, the big blue jeep is a buddy of mine Jeremy... His engine started to give up on him, but he ran it all day... That thing works well...

The first red Cherocar is Jason... It's got tons under it... He's finally getting the bugs worked out...

Thanks Luey. I don't know a lot of the people in these rigs.

Here's one last compilation for the night.

YouTube says still processing. These are much nicer quality on my local machine.

why? Well, when you have a large group of people waiting to go and you have to wait your turn, it starts to be a long day. Ask me how I know this sometime.....
We had a time limit and had to be back to camp by 3:30 and we still ended up waiting for people to get off this hill before we could start the 3:30 festivities.

There are other options....
A) Take a different trail.
B) Smaller groups.
C) Unstack afterwards......
Was it at least unstacked afterwards?

Why?....Just when it sounds like Elbe might be worth running it sounds like it's being stacked.:booo:

I said something about this on Saturday when someone was talking about stacking rocks. There's a bypass. If you can't even make the bypass, then you shouldn't be on the god damn trail.

Looks like a lot of fun and good trails. Wish we could of made it but we had people coming from out of town for the weekend.

Nicole was right on target.

I also recieved a call about one spot getting to dangerous with a serious risk of an endo for short wheel base rigs and if they did, the it'd be a bad one considering the potential to keep rolling several hundred feet downhill.

Safety wins every time.

There was no bypass as the time. With the approval and support of the DNR, we created a bypass around the rocked section of the hill climb so that vehicles would have an escape route. There area that we fixed was not supposed to be one of the optional obstacles on the trail.

No we didn't unstack, but by the end of the day, the rocks that we placed in the hole were being scattered but enough of them remained at the bottom to give it a solid foundation.

The difficulty level of this section is just about perfect. In nice weather it seems a little on the easy side. When it get's sloppy, which is 3/4 of the time at Elbe, it's going to be VERY difficult and a lot more people will have to use the bypass, or pull cable.

There was no "Fixing" of any holes on the optional hard sections.

Here is a video of a couple rigs tackling the log crawl. I was bummed that I didn't have my camera out when the Fiatt dominated the log crawl. That was the only vehicle I saw make it.

Wow, I crawled right through the log crawl... I didn't think it was hard enough...

I think someone stacked some logs. I went through on Saturday without my front locker working :haha:

Actually, I heard that a couple of logs moved around on Sunday and were hitting all the wrong spots. I went by on Sunday evening (we ran a bunch of trails since we didn't get to do any wheeling during the run) and it looked like a couple of people had gone out the side and screwed up the log bracing.

We put about a month's worth of wear and tear on these obstacles, all in one day.

I think you are right there Gibby. There was a big backup when I got there on Sunday and several people were complaining about the backup saying the logs were easy. If you look at my video you can see several of the logs were stacked on one or more other logs making them too high to crawl over for all but the most built rigs. I was planning on trying it out, but after seeing how tore up it was I think my little 35" tires were about a foot too small.

When we got there on Sunday morning there were a lot of logs stacked in the first few holes so crawling it was real easy. We unstacked it right before the big group showed up and right after the blazer guys had gone through. It made it significantly harder as proven by the videos popping up of almost everybody getting denied in the first section there.:redneck:

Here's another compliation of the Rainier Vista hill climb.

And yet another. I have 2 or 3 more to go.

Here is the last one that I have.

Nice work. It was pretty fun watching all the people who thought they would just crawl over it getting denied.

Yeah some folks are going to the far sides of the crawl N running two tires on the brace logs. Scooting them around. N others are getting stuck and using wood chunks to fill in inbetween the logs. We did have to remove a great deal or stuff (logs N rocks) back off the trail Sunday. And much like the rocks on the Rainer Vista the log crawl gets easyer N harder do to weather N water.

We know it will take maintence we are up to keeping it clear N difficult.
