22r and 22re interchange ?????

Picked up an 83 today with a rod knock. I have an 85 22re and most of the stuff for the fuely swap. I would like to swap motors tommorow, and use the 22r intake and carb. Find the rest of the re ****, and swap to fuely stuff in a few weeks. Will this stuff bolt together? Wanna dd this fawker before it gets too beat.

why not just fi swap it at once?

I swapped a 22re into an 80 yota, and it wasn't too bad. I swapped the entire engine over though. Not just parts. :awesomework:


Edit....I reread your post.....its gonna create more work for yourself, but you oughta be able to do it. I believe you will have to use the distributor out of the 22r also. Maybe that only matters for the other way around though. pay attention to the little water outlet on the intake side of the head, it may be different on a 22re than the 22r making it to where the intake won't bolt up. May just have to swap them out.

The intake should bolt up. (fingers crossed)

i think on the earlier 22r heads, you have to drill out some holes in the newer intake to match up with the head
