Last spring, I bought a 321 buggy from essentially off-road.. From the time I got it home, I knew there were a lot of changes that I wanted to do to make it work better..My total goal is to re-due all the weak points that I have found over the past year. Also I am a tad bit bigger than the previous owner so the inside will all be cut out and re-done to accomadate my big ass!! This will be my first time tackling something like this, so be easy on me...
As for upgrades, this is what the plan is:
Replace the weak D60 w/ a 14bolt
Detroit in the front and spool in the rear
4.10 gears to 4.88
Replace the np205 with atlas 4.3
Have the C6 transmission built to take the abuse
35-spline chromoly inner and outer axles w/nitro 300m axle joints
Upgrade steering ram
Replace the stock knuckles w/ Reid Racking knuckles

What the buggy looked like the day I got it home

Next weekend I want to get the front axle cleaned up and the new truss on and links tacked back on

Great job of personal touches as we all like them the way we want them to be. Just my .02 worth, but maybe put in the Atlas 4.3 then try it out and see how you like the gearing before you swap them out. I am running the same spool in the rear and Detroit in the front and is a working setup. Other than that, looks great. thumb.gif

Sweet. Let us know if there is anything you need, or if you have questions while you are redoing it we will be glad to help.

Chasman-that is what I was gonna do, but I got a great deal on those gears and couldn't pass it up...

Jimmy-you wouldn't happen to know what the spring rate is for the front and rear???

Thanks for your guys' input...keep em coming!!!

You'll like the 4.3 and 4.56 gear setup. That's what I run in my buggy and it is pretty much perfect. Every once in awhile I'll wish for a tad more wheel speed but that's only on the most wide open ****. I happen to have a 2.7 crawl box for those times but I think you'll be pretty happy. You can crawl and open er up.

in the first pic I see what looks like a winch with the new rope style cable or is that not true and if so have you used it yet and like it or no

If your talkin about the winch on the buggy, yeah its great...love the rope instead of the steel cable

A little update on this project!! I haven't had much time to work on this thing thinks to a thing called JOB! I got the motor all cleaned up and put back in along with a freshly rebuilt C6 and atlas 2-speed. Hoping to get to the interior sometime this wkend or possibly next week so I can mount the seats, gauges, and shifters.

Big thanks to Aaron @ Skidmarx offroad for his help w/ the fab work with the interior!! The dash will be powdercoated the same color as the springs and breather.. This thing has come along way and I cant wait to see if all the changes were worth it!!
Here is a pic of the inside, still needs some things touched up but you get the feel of the way it will end up :cougar:
