That's the roll cage base that bolts to the factory jeep bolts. I used motobuilt base plates, and boxed them in. I do things a little different...

The front clip is outlined and mapped out. I I have a pretty comprehensive grasp of how I will proceed the entirety of the build now. Once David drops by for some measurements and approval of a few details I have in mind, Katie bar the doors....

Obviously my tube work is very go-fast inspired, but once all the other pieces take shape, she'll be quite attractive and pleasing to the eye.

Sorry for the delay guys. Welding up a Goatbuilt chassis at the moment for another customer, getting a '41 Chevy pu ready to go to body shop, then getting the manche ready to wheel BKORP and AOP weekend of the race. Progres to resume directly after on 3DB.

Great looking work and cool build! I do have a question as I am always trying to learn.

Why not just put a bend in the b pillar v/s making it two pc's? If your design possible stronger with tight notches ?

My guess is by the time the rest of the tubes are in and supporting that section, I bet it is stronger. That bar will push straight down on that node if it lands on the roof, and I have a feeling hes got 3-4 tubes planned to hit that spot.

I do believe it is stronger, along with much of the top trophy truck teams. Look at the latest top ultra 4 cars as well. You will see very few bent tubes versus correctly done miters and tube junctions such as these.

When you bend a tube, it has become deformed (out of round) and you inherently weaken that section.

This style of junction along with a mitered joint really lends to my build style, because I really don't enjoy bending tube. You would be hard pressed to find a tube, with more than one bend per length of tube, in any build I have ever done. Not to mention - to me anyway, this is much easier than determining the clocking of the notch to the bend to get the desired cant of the bends in plane with the chassis design and body. I did most of this on the table, then carried to the chassis and plopped her down, first shot.

I can appreciate and respect those that are tubing masters at creating a flowing, curvy rig; but that's just not my style.

Correct. There will be a bar following the seat contour, along with some plate work toward the back that ties into the shock mount plating on top of the motobilt inner fender, and incorporates the shoulder harness mounts.

Lol. This will be a great trail jeep. Whole different approach than the manche though. It will not be short on horsepower or style, I will say.

The next big project coming this summer will likely be right up there with the Comanche though.

Interior tube work nearly complete. Couple tie ins from front clip engine tubes (you can see them under the cowl), seat contour door bars, seat belt tabs, rear most seat tabs, and then onto finishing front half tubing and begin plate work.
