Not to jack your thread but why 78-79 I just had a guy give me a 2001 Dana 60 front out of a F-250 just not sure why so desirable.

might be the spring pad width... the 78-79 is a direct bolt in for a YJ... plus the 78-79 has a longer short side thus more tube to work off of.

Exactly Mike and Thanks. I've lost count of how many I've had but need one for a yj. Have all the other stuff so just need a housing.

the problem is, the 78-79's bring a premium for some reason... thats why im gonna have to get by with a 79 f250 44... contraption is hooking me up. later when im feeling rich i can always swap to a 60. good luck with the hunt, if i find something, i will drop a line.
