Heard a loud snap from the front left when i took my truck out for a spin. i pulled it in and pulled the front end apart and found that the Disc i guess totally snapped off the rotor assembly...anyone had this happen is it from heat from large tires? there was no rust. :eeek:

Im thinking something is out of alignment, or the sliders on your brake calipers arent working correctly. You shouldnt be able to do that unless your side loading the rotor constantly and work hardening the metal until it becomes brittle and snaps.

Just an opinion tho.

Toyota calipers are fixed, not floating, which only leaves the possibility of one half of the caliper not working right, sideloading the rotor as mentioned before...

Hi All:

This is a good time to upgrade your SFA Toyota brake parts.

You can fit FJ60 rotors (vented) in place of the solid type you currently run. For calipers, the 1991-95 V-6 4Runner units have two large pistons (in comparison to the old style which have one large, and one small piston.)

These parts will bolt-up to your front axle.

Good luck!

Alan
