85 Toyota starting problem

Okay so when the engine is dead cold it starts to 1k RPMs then dies off and it dies and I have to keep doing that over and over till it like stays started and it seem to stay running when its warmed up and idles great. But I think its the electric choke or idk what it Is. Please help! Its a 22re

definitely not choke buddy...... the "e" in 22re stands for efi or electronic fuel injection

Yup and don't forget the temperature sensor that triggers that part of the system.


Once the rig is running while its cold it will keep running if you give it throttle won't it?

Have you screwed with the cooling system? Air trapped by the ECT sensor will cause extreme idle surge when cold.

Cold start injector only works while cranking.
I'd be checking the iac valve and its coolant lines, and the efi coolant temp sensor.
