94 Jeep ZJ ??how many Auto will work??

Pulled a dead auto from a 94 4.0L Grand. Been looking and talking to tranny shops and bone yards. Is there that much difference between years and the 5.2 vs the 4.0's? They are all saying the electronic are different and almost needs to be year specific. Appears to be he 42RE. Any feedback as to what will work when installed. If I head to PAP and look for a match. Thanks

The 4.0 runs a 42RE, the 5.2 and 5.9 each have their own transmissions. To my knowledge and what car-part kicks back for cross referencing, all you need to find yourself is an auto out of a 1993.5 up 4.0 ZJ and you'll be good to go. EARLY 93's had an AW-4 like the XJ ran.

Pretty sure only a 93.5 to 95 will work. 96 to 98 is different. And yes, it has to be out of a 4.0

Ended up just picking up one at Olyimpic in Snoho. Dropped it in and all is well. Another ZJ back on the road. Thanks for the infor.
