I am about to weld my centers into some hummer beadlocks.
Have you done this?
What was acceptable runout to you?
OR
What runout did you end up with and does it suck?:fawkdancesmiley::haha:
cheers

Yes I've done it... Press fit centers? In my opinion you really want the rim centered on the wheel hub dead on as if press fit centers. Runout the other way isn't quite as critical but still important for a wheeler (assuming this is not a highway rig?). One of mine are off by probably a quarter inch or so and you can watch the tire wobble going down the road, yes it kinda sucks.
If I were you I would get it as very close as you can because it will be off a touch no matter how you do it minus turning it on a lathe afterword.

You know there is some guy who builds wheels for Trail ready and posts on here sometimes...... He laughs at my **** all of the time.:haha:

+/- .015 for a total of .030 or better. For any better you need the extrusion ,that the rim started as, to be near perfect and they never are. This is a lateral measurement not radial.

I will defenitely do it the best I can!
Just curious if other folks checked theirs out.
It is a wheeler.
But it would be cool to drive to some of my local spots,And I am already out some teeth, don't wanna lose more.:redneck:
I also don't want to piss myself If I can't control it somehow.:haha:
I have never driven/had these large of tires on a small lightish rig like this.

Just tryin to do it proper and thought I'd ask:awesomework:
cheers

Ok, So I have never used a dial indicator before LOL
That means 15 thou either side of Zero right?
So count the total of whatever I have on either side of zero and that is my total runout , Yes?

As it sits for the first rim,I am 13 to the positive, and 32 to the negative .

Thats 45 thou.
Which is under 3/64ths.

Am i doing this right? LOL

cheers

Yup....you got it buddy:awesomework:

IMO that'll be plenty fine for what you want to do. Again......how good your individual parts are to start are going to have alot to do with the end product. Used Hummer shells and your .045 out.....thats pretty good.

Fawkin aresome :)
Lets do some more!!!
Hopefully I can keep that consistency ....

cheers Mauler:awesomework:

I ended up with .045, .047, .048 , and .053

That last one for the life of me could not be beaten into submission.
But overall, I guess thats pretty good!
Those numbers do not include the subtraction of the hubs runout.
Which I tholught of about half way through.

Welp I guess I'll take theses in tomorrow, and weld'em up after work.
