All Wheelers Father's Day Run - report(June 19-21, 2009)

All Wheelers Off Road Club -
Father's Day Run
Saturday June 20th, 2009

On Friday June 19th, 2009 we headed up FS1701 to set up camp at the FS530 intersection.
A few guys came up the night before.
While we waited for the others to show up, we ran down to Tripod Flats to make sure the trail was open.
It rained hard.

We headed back to camp where others were showing up.
Scuba had a good fire going for us and even had some shelter to keep us dry.

Next we headed on past Funny Rocks to 4W307.
On down 4W307 we stopped for lunch at Tripod Flats.
After lunch we headed on down 4W307 and then run up 4W311.
We had to stop near the top of the ridge to wait for a rig that was over heating.

Around 3:45 PM we came up on a group of people off the trail.
Some of the rigs were full size and did not belong on this trail because the trail is one of the few that is not wide enough.
Some of the guys in the back of a cut off Suburban were yelling "F" words at us and seemed to be drunk.
As we headed on toward the top end of the trail, right around the corner we smelled fresh evergreen.
These guys had damaged trees coming through.
On down the trail we came up on a big tree that just had been cut down.
Our members said they saw wood that matched the tree in one of the rigs.

We finely made it back to camp. Some headed for home and the rest of us froze aka camped.

On Sunday morning the horse group across the road came over and gave the kids rides on their horses.
These guys were from Puyallup.

Around noon there were only two rigs left in our group to wheel.
Blind-Pilot and I took our families on a short run.
We headed up FS530 on past Bald Mountain and down the 5 fingers.
Then Wood Pecker and out what was FS1708.
The sink holes got even deeper this year. We could not make it out the second hole down.

We turned around.

We dropped off the short cut trail. The tire ruts where so deep I drug my difs a few times going down it.

Once at the bottom of FS1708 we ran Hwy-410 to NF19.
We stopped at Long Meadow to let the family use the out houses.
Next we headed up 4W676. About the time we got up to the FS1901 crossing the rain started coming down.
That is when we said we had enough of that trail.
We took FS1901 down to NF19. We aired up some and headed back toward camp.
Around the Bald Mountain area we saw a mama and baby standing close to the trail.

This was another great Father's Day weekend run thanks to all that came.
