gottagofast said:Really?.... One cut, two welds, and one bolt..... About 10 minutes of work.... Seems pretty easy to me and yields a quiter vibration free shifter.

And is a short throw kit really worth it?
grcthird said:Not sure on the brand, I'll let you know when I get it back, but it makes for a more positive shift, pretty much eliminates play or flex in the shifter, less about sports car more about working better and having a shorter throw.
gottagofast said:Sounds like ur way over thinking this... If ur breaking em at around 280,000 miles it sounds like a no brainer.... Buy another one and change I again in 10-30 years.

MoparMan said:It's not exactly the shift lever, its the shifter stuck. Have you ever seen how its made down at the bottom where it screws onto the shift lever? It's pretty common for them to break especially after a bunch of hard miles....both ones I have broke had around 280k miles on them.
The Core/Hurst short shifter that I tried was not really worth it. It was actually kind of a pain. But looking back on it I think it would have been much better with a pistol grip instead of the ball it comes with.
patooyee said:Yeah, I've put 2 clutches in them so I've seen that part plenty. Still don't get how it breaks. Kind of a derail anyway, doesn't matter.
I researched the short shift kits a while back. I saw lots of reports of them breaking.
Have also seen where people just welded the stock shifter solid and liked that a lot.
gottagofast said:In order to weld it you would have to get rid of the rubber first... Might have to cut out a section and put a small peice of tubing in.
If you were local to me I'd fix ya up for nothing.
