... I have a set of raised beds, and I am trying out my hand at some straw bale gardening...

I don't know **** about plants, gardening, etc...

I am just winging it, and **** will either grow or die.

So far I have sweet peas, 2 types of tomatoes, cayene peppers, habenero peppers, red peppers, orange peppers, broccoli, zuchini, and pumpkins.

I need to get some seed potatos for the other bale that is empty so far and try to fill it with some sweet red taters!

I have a cherry tree. Does that count?

Your garden looks great.

No, thats an orchard....

I have my 1 apple tree, and my 3 plum trees.... not sure what I am going to do with all those plums, but i will learn how to make jelly or something :D

...............she may remember her log in,not sure:kiss:

I ran ~275' of poly pipe with 5 provisions for hose spigots today to get water to the straw bales...

Also installed a T w/ a 1" poly coming off that will feed my fire hydrant

Tell her to give me some tips... I am a rookie, and have no idea what I am doing. Other than stawberries, I have never successfully grown ****! I have planted stuff before, but nothing has ever produced before. Maybe it was the trailer court dirt... :haha:

...Your bale planters look great !

I hope they work...

I read alot about how you have to "condition" the bales, but I couldn't find the same fertilizer to use as apparently you cant get it anymore due to people using it to make bombs... so I improvised.

i watered the **** out of them for a week, then I fertilized them with 46-0-0 for about 4 days, then watered them for for another week...

I hope they work!

MY ol lady has 4 raised garden beds that we built for her. All bordered with 2 feet of gravel. The beds are 6x12 with one at 14x14.

She has a big ol wind mill too.

Then she started helping out over at my moms in the greenhouse and I was informed that I would be building a greenhouse for this season.

Now she has a nice new aluminum framed pro 10x12 greenhouse thats full of stuff. I even got her to take all the house plants out there too. Now I can see out the windows in the house again. I put in all kinds of drippers and misters on a regulated watering system. Then when hand watering is still needed I got an old stainless steel sprayer and hose. Its a commercial dishwasher handle/sprayer that has a soft shower and a nice black rubber hose and its plumbed in also. I hung it from the center of the roof so it will reach all four corners and routed the hose along the structure back to my main splitter/feed. I built nice benches out of ruff cut fir and mill stock reject cedar fence boards for the decking. The all vary just about a 1/16 or less in thickness so it gives it a nice rustic/country touch.

She got a 6 foot tractor tire and cut the inner bead off it and turned it inside out and out it behind the shed and uses it for a compost bin. The black rubber helps generate heat and promote bacteria growth.

Now we are working on a couple of LARGE raised beds for just raspberries.

Damn... your WAY more motivated than me! :D

Just some kind of herbal tobacco plants that have always been deep in the yard. All the neighbor kids keep them pruned up real nice.
