theres a link above to the site that makes them,

i'm looking at the tube fenders that have re-movable flared fenders. theres one thing about JEEPS i cannot stand, and thats looking out the drivers window and seeing that flat squared fender. that look just bugs me something awful. and i hate that look, it doesn't get much better with the regular tube fenders replacing either, but these actually have a nice bend / curve to them, and the FLARED portion can be re-moved once out on the trails... *I've seen photos from every angled, especially looking out the the drivers side, and they give me a great view, very appealing.

they also seem to work very well for clearence and protection -

Most of the reviews I've read on them, no one has had problems with them re-aligning up to put the flares back on after a hard day of wheeling. the flared portion slides into the inner tube fender, pins & bolts... thats the area of concern. but i guess there pretty stout. unless someone was really BASHING the hell out of them.

ANYBODY RUN THEM?

Thx, Rich :awesomework:

That **** doesn't stick out nearly far enough.

And WTF?

those are the sliders... I'am not intrested in those... but agreed on the sticking out part, WTF?

smooth / rounded, non-grabbing sliders work best.

I'd much rather buy a set of these, tube fenders w/ optional attaching re-movable flares... than make my own, "Booty Fab" crap. doesn't anyone have 'em or know someone that does?

rich they are not very hard to make your own.

i made mine slightly different then most ive seen. mine completely cover the tire tread but are easily removable and when removed the structure behind the fender is plenty strong enough to never get damaged no matter how hard i rub against something.

i bet the materials and time was less than half what those sell for.

light wheeling days i leave them on to keep the mud off, on big dog days they come off completely but still protect the side and hood.

i have an appointment with the state patrol this month to see if i can license it again as i ORVd it for the last year to get by smog...they will look for legal lights and vin numbers im not sure what else...i do need to add mudflaps prior to the insp though.

I know there most likely, one of the things thats very easy for me to accomplish making on my own... but, I'm not doing that or going there with my own mad fab skills, i bought a pair of Tj's for the wife & myself, and we kinda promised each other, i wouldn't do that anymore.

*(Booty Fabbing!)

I think for the most part, for me anyways...

It's that look "I" see when looking out the drivers side, i absolutely hate the body lines / fenders that are stock on Yj's / Tj's...

The new wranglers 07, did away with that "squared" boxy line look. but we liked everything about the Tj's. we both want to more or less just buy and order parts, and install them ourselves. for me, I'm looking to get rid of that appearence of those stock or aftermarket tube fenders that give off that squared / lined look. these fit my bill nicely.

just wondering if someone else had them, and how they held up - as far as the flares sliding / attaching back onto them.

This look, it just Eeee's me... kinda the way certain rig's just look better from different angles, i think not only will some nice tube fenders be better over-all, but that look will be gone too!

Rich,
I have the Poison Spyder tube fenders on my TJ. I don't really like the lines of the REV fenders but to each his own. I would be really really worried about them being bent and then not being able to flares back on. I know I have hit mine pretty hard and even hard enough that I bent the tub a little where fenders mount.

Thats what my "concern" is as well...

I'm thinking a few good pushes agains't them, or some tree rubbing and the "Flares" will never line back up again.

I'm not in love with that squared line look of the stock fenders, but at this point, i'm thinking of just a nice set of tube fenders that can take the abuse, and deal with the flare issue / police, as it comes, if it does!

The front fenders where the last thing that I bent up on my TJ, the first place that goes is the rear corners and the slider areas, so if I were you I would concentrate on those areas.

I built these sliders for under $100

Interesting because the FIRST place I put dents were in both my fenders when I wedged between two trees.

And Rich if your going to run tight trails then you might want some of these too.

thanks for all the advice guys... after alot of years in samurai's / I'm no stranger to tight places... But I have gotten really used to outside viewing from the drivers side, and the Sami's just had that look I'm so used to, I've rode in a few jeeps that either had no fenders or tube, and that appealed alot to me.

The other stuff, bumpers, sliders, cage, 60's, etc... Will eventually come!

But I'm hoping to re-think re-train myself in this Tj, I've been trying daily to drive it as much as possible, to do alot of hill climbs, and tight / obstacle trails near-by me to get used to it, compared to the Sami, and what I've been used to, or how I thought when I drove / wheeled the Sami's.

I'm starting from stock in this one, and following behind the wifes build up 1st, this way I can learn my rig's capabilities as I go, and she can feel more confident watching me do a obstacle and then feel more secure in hers as we go, it's actually been alot of fun starting out all over like this again from stock.

Right now, i'm happy knowing where this rig will end up in the long run, as a daily driver / weekend wheeler.

But, i can't stand the square fender lines!!!!:;

Guess i'll have to pick some kind of curved / rounded tube fender or make my own! :D
