The only thing I cared about at all in this thread.... was the flattening and widening of the trails. These are ORV parks where wehicles are specifically built to run these trails. We don't add metal to our rigs for a cool factor.... take your factory fresh "wheeling" rigs off of our trails...
That being said. You can still have fun in a mild daily driver vehicle. All I ask is you run the trails you can, and stay off the ones you cant.

Dont confuse the OLD DAYS with TODAY.
In the OLD DAYS,,,,
You could drive for miles in the woods with NO gates.
You could drive to hi mountain lakes abound.
You had CLEAR CUT logging, making it easy to see for miles and enjoy the nice roads that the loggers installed.
You could hunt everywhere.
You could camp about anywhere.
You could pretty much do whatever you want as long ya respect your surroundings.
TODAY,,,,
You have tons of gates.
You have TONS of people.
You have OLD roads that have been decomished.
You have most of the lakes NOT accessable to rigs.
You have a very small amount of room for ALLOT of people.
When you have a vast region populated by few (like or grandads) it was easy to just enjoy EXPLORING it.
But when ya cram all of the ORVers into a 10 mile trial system that offers not much in the way of nature the users needs change.
The orv park is not a "destination" wheeling spot anymore but a skill/play area.

And for you guys that rember running the busy in dads old jeep on 7.00x15s,,,,,,
It was in the summer. That trail has been ****ED since the 70s. It was NEVER a nice stroll in the woods.
You guys musta been running it in the summer time. It can still be ran in the summer in a tame rig. The trail now pre/andpost logging is NOTHING like it was in the old days. It used ot be called the 8hour trail back when the playground and the old bridges were there in the swamp.
Think Im kidding, just stop in to the NAPA in Morton and look at the pics of the flatty JEEP with the headlights pushing mud. Those pics are all over the store. Its a black and white pic from the early 70s, ya know back when it was easy on 31s!

and we still ran it with our little tires few or no winches (straps and come alongs) no lockers (few powerlocks) and we had a great time doing it :cheer: oh and BTW we ran it year round :awesomework:

Yessir. After the runs everyone would meet at the Elbe tavern when my grandparents owned it and they would feed us kids food & sodas and the adults beers. It was great. :beer::awesomework:

FWIW I had a positive expierence with a few of their members at Reiter.
Yes they were afraid to scratch their paint, but they listened to my directions and stayed on the trails that fit their rigs. One of them attempted the gate keeper to the G9 trail and was willing to remove his soft top with the tree he got himself into.
I cautioned him to keep his jeep clean, he wanted to tear it off. We ended up using my idea.

There were some 2 big broncos rigs down in Kelso/Castle Rock 7-8 years ago.
This thread leader is ignorant. The vehicle and driver in question had no business being on the trail. Stock pile, no recovery gear, no skill and was drunk. The club winched and strapped him at least 5 times that day and he was pretty rude and unhelpful. His friends were even more rude. I was the last to leave him as I strapped some newbies dead Cherokee back to the road. There was a vehicle there that said they were his "friends" as we left. I knelt to my nuts in water twice strapping your dumb friend up, you are ****ty friends. Yes, 50% percent of Asjc is scared to scratch paint, "I cannot tell a lie!":kissmyass:
We ran **** year round. We had one guy in our group that had lockers front and rear and he would walk thru things no one else could, and then he would be the anchor point for everyone else to winch off of. We would tent camp under the old bridge over the Mashel that was made out of trees with dirt shoved into the gaps...well, most of the gaps!
But, you are right about crowd density. We have the same problem with the sand dunes. They keep closing more and more areas. Packing more and more people into the small places left open, and then erosion goes thru the roof, accidents happen, people get angry, and the tree huggers just sit back and laugh as the news media picks us apart.
This planet is overpopulated. Drop the population about 50% and things could go back to "the way it was". Hell, in 20 more years, we will be wishing for things to be as good as they are now.

I grew up in flat fenders, first car I drove at 9 was a flat fender, was "wheeling" before it was a "hobby" with my father, it's just what you did when you went hunting, scouting, shooting and as mentioned before you could just travel cross country off road unhindered.
but we never took the "car" out off roading...... that would just be stupid.
we took the proper vehicle for the terrain that we were in.
you don't take a lowrider into the dunes..... well I wouldn't ..... :awesomework:

tjmatt, I wouldn't say your "club" group or what ever is really at fault here, as I reread one of the og posts he stated that the stuck/broke guy was mid pack and another of his group was behind him in your group and had to have passed him on the trail, that guy should have taken the responsibility to make sure his guy got out and back to his group!!!!

Just to clarify: you, you're your and they, they're, their. Yup, it happened here folks! Here's a real question though, I'm fighting rear pinion angle and articulation angles, will longer arms improve axle wrap/squat? Also on the list for questions my uncle never asked... my club only knows about TouchUp paint...
