Auto headlights and HID

So i'm looking at installing HIDs on my 03 GMC and I noticed that the instructions say to disable the auto on headlights. I figured this would be simple and that removing the relay in the under hood fuse block would do it so I pulled the relay and then blocked my sensor on the dash only to have the lights turn back on.

Am I missing something here, is there any other way to kill them so I can just use the switch instead of having them turn on by themselves?

I'm sure it's going to make a difference that my truck was built for Canada since it was a pain in the ass to install my tuner on it too.

Thanks

Kevin

let me know if you figure it out, I have HID's on my chevy, and just leave the high beams on when i'm not using the headlights, then the auto thing doesn't turn them on and off everytime i start the truck, and everytime i'm in the shade, at night when i would normally turn on my headlights, i just turn off the highbeams.
