Yea, but if you had a better paying job.. You could just own all of those tools :haha:

And Crash strikes again.... I think he started at Speedway in '07. I can't seem to think he worked two jobs for 10 years, other than in his own shop building rigs for a few of you guys and the real paying work as well....

Nope, never worked in any auto related business. I'd rather let someoen else do all the really dirty work. I'll only do it if I really have to.

Voted Nope, but I do turn wrenches for a living, just not on autos. I'm a building and facilities O/M type mechanic in Seattle. Delivered parts for BBC dodge for a year in 1994.

I understand what Jeff means. When I worked at the equip dealer I worked so many hours that the last thing I wanted to do was turn wrenches when I got home. I sold my wheeler and my Banshee was a bare frame for 6yrs.
Breaking into the industry can be tough and you have to bust your ass to get ahead but it usually pays off.
I have a better job, better hours, better pay, better bennies, and a shop 1mi from my house with pretty good resources at my disposal.

Worked in an independent shop for 3 yrs, service manager for 5 yrs, took a break from auto and was an assistant manager at a membership warehouse. Went back to auto in 1990, been at Town and Country Jeep since, wrote service for a short period there but back to wrenches. As I get older I wonder how long you can do the wrench thing, going in for back surgery next month as a result of all the years of undercar work.
