• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Been layed up a few days - 35% Gore

They unbandaged me to get the wound pump off today. Said 98% of it has taken and I'm 4-5 days ahead of schedule. They wanted me to wiggle my fingers while i was out to try to get feeling and movement. I could make a fist so they bandaged my hand up because i had too much movement. :wtflol:

Your graft ,at least in the photo, appears to have taken very well. The very small areas of granulating tissue will heal on up. I have seen plenty of these and even worse. I am curious where you live. I am a hand specialist and would be glad to share information with you on your injuries. If you did not suffer any tendonous or nerve injuries along with it you should have a pretty good outcome for the injury. Feel free to shoot me a pm if you like.

I live in tuscaloosa. Dr Higden (sp?) did the skin and i have been real happy with him. He said that the nerves were not damaged they were just stretched and twisted so it will take awhile to get all the feelin back. My thumb doesnt bend good yet but gets better everyday and its the only thing that is still numb. Gonna try to get on some playstation today!

Great to hear your plastics guy is taking good care of you. Some of the best hadn surgeons are actually plastics guys.
Sounds like neuropraxic trauma to the nerves. You would need to keep your fingers, digits and wrist moving. Therapy will handle this. As you will learn ,although I think you will do very well, scar tissue in the hand and forearm is not "our friend" the majority of the time. Your skin graft will require some extra care for the next year;but, it is great to still have your arm I am sure thumb.gif

Well I rode around in a rhino all day a grayrock saturday. I have ben therapy up 3 times a week. And have been at work on very light duty this week (dont tell the doctors). It feels real good considering, I've got about 80% back, and its lookin very good. I am VERY VERY weak but it'll come. :dblthumb:

DROVE MY BUGGY TONIGHT! :woot: :woot: I'm along way from woopow but I'm happy to be able to climb in and out. Bone doctor told me today I'm too weak to pick up anything to pop a screw loose so go at it. I won't be released for it all till 12 weeks and I'm six in but I have so much movement now he told me to stop going to therapy and just use it, my strength will come. I had a buddy that was cool enough to plant my fields for me and I just got done gettin my deer huntin stuff outa the attic so in two weeks I'll be lookin for venison. :eat: Heres what its lookin like now, still swolen and you cant see where they cut me open on the other side to put the plates and screws in, but hell I gotta arm and scars are cool!
