Well, Ive had my 1974 GMC Jimmy "Big Blue" in my name for the past month, finally got it off my uncle, and its been my daily/wheeler. It has an LT1 350 60 over, 400 turbo tranny, 35s, gonna need some tread by next summer, full removable top and roll cage, 4 tire fire and loud as hell.

But now im discovering some problems. I kinda rallyed on er last weekend, now theres a knocking noise...........Im leaning towards a bent pushrod, it gets louder, and i mean louder as the RPMs go up and up. If it is a push rod, How bad is it, is it drivable, easy or hard to fix, how much $$ will it run me.

Also, I put a radio in it, kinda jimmy rigged the radio to the cigarette lighter ground, works great, but now truck wont start, thought it was gas issue, but i filled it up with a can of gas, still dont start, now the batter is dead and charging.

Just looking for some words of wisdom. Heres some pics. Oh, and yes the throttle is held together by zipties.

Unless you have the money for a motor swap or rebuild stop running it until you figure out what the knock is.

Small blocks with stamped rockers are pretty easy to stuff the push rod through the rocker at high RPM. Then you hear the push rod beating on the valve cover. Pull the covers and see what you find. You should be able to tell if it's a top or bottom end knock.

Stop booty fabbing your wiring. Next thing you now we have another "Why me" thread because your stereo burned your truck to the ground.

Haha, the wiring with the radio and ziptieing throttle was only temporary, i wanted to see if the radio and computer speakers worked. :redneck:

But, since im not doing anything this week, take a look at what I can find in my engine. My pickup that got broke into is drivable now, just looks like its rollin coal.

that didnt take you long kid..is that your dads rod?...is that why they call him socal out here?cool rod...part of this 4x4 **** is learning how to fix em...

Stop driving immediately, take the V covers off and take a peek. Oh and just pray it isn't a rod....

Oh I aint drivin it, ill take a look this week, what would I want it to be insted of a rod?
