Big Kid belated birthday project

So my daughter's birthday always coincides with KOH week. When I asked her what she wanted for her birthday when I got back from the Hammers she said "a big kid bed!" She also wanted blue and white painted walls in her room with red curtains.

The dude abides. How could you resist this cutie?

Rough sanding.

Partial assembly and finish sanding.

Final assembly and more finish sanding.

Dis-assembly and prep for finishing. This took a couple two-three days of wood conditioning, staining, and spar urethane. Every day when she would get home from school she would ask "is it ready yet"?

Finally, assembled in her room when she got home from school. Talk about a stoked 4 year old.

And finally she sleeps. I still have an asston of work to do putting the room back together and moving furniture around. Then moving on to the cleaning my office out and prepping that room for kid #2 who is due in June.

Thanks Troy. After two deployments and missing almost a year of her growing up it's pretty awesome to be on shore duty and get to see my kid every day. :cheer:
