Miscalculated and now have 14inch 5125's for my FJ40:

Obviously the 14's are a little long, and logic says..it would be cheaper to buy shorter ones than fancy pants bump stops, but I believe I can make them work. Plan is to move the Ford shock towers to the top of the frame then gusset and brace it. Also going to move the lower shock mounting location to the side/bottom back side of the axle. That should give me about another 5 inches.

I am currently looking at:

Daystar Stingers: $209 a pair http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dys-ku71090bk/media/images

FOA 2.0: $300 a pair: http://f-o-a.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20_44&products_id=25

Sway-A-Way : $253.00 each so $506 a pair..:censor:

Fox 2.0: $201.00 each $402 a pair: http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/Fox-2.0-Air-Bump-Stops-p-63.html

Any other options? Suggestions regarding the bump stops? Or should I just extend the brackets for regular bump stops? Pro's cons of each?

Heard bad things about the daystars. I'm running fox 2.0 3in travel in the front. They are awesome for high speed rough terrain. Kind of suck on the road since I only have like 3.25 of up travel but it's well worth it when I hit the rough stuff.

I could shorten them up but I'm lazy and they work.

The Fox 2.0s have been a good product and everyone I know with them seem to be very happy with them. ProComp also makes some for about the same price as Fox 2.0s and they come with mounting cans unlike the Fox 2.0s.

Are you seriously contemplating hydro bumps for a SpringUnder rig?

Wow!

Drop the rubber/poly one down and call it good.

think he is considering some of his wheeling will be higher speed, over rough stuff, sand dunes, ect... cant speak for chris but I think he is building this for all types of wheeling and expedition trips whereas mine will be built for the mall.

I consider everything. Kyle hit the nail on the head. More of an overlanding type build than a dedicated full time crawler that is highway drivable. My first option is exactly what you said, just extend the bump stop mount down to the needed length and remount the stop. I just wanted some opinions.

I know exporing all options is the best, I know wanting the best is good.

Hydro bumps on spring under is like buying double beadlocks and then put a set of sears whitewall radial car tires on them.

White walls, damn I wonder if I can get bead locks on 100 spoke tripple gold daytons?

My junkpile has leafsprings and 4 inch travel king bumpstops. I would recomend shorter shocks and 2 inch travel king or fox bumpstops. Dont set them up until everything else is mounted and expect the springs to settle. You dont want the bumpstops to hit all the time. Hydro bumps are alot better then rubber or poly.

I run these on the rear of my rig, and this set for sale is a great deal:

i'm actually leaning towards the PC bumps

i agree with you... esp with his plans for the rig.

Called Craig from Ridgeline, ordered my rear shocks at 10 inch and some 12's for the front as well. We shall see what the outcome is for the bumpstops towards the end of the build.
