Cell Providers

Ive been looking to maybe change my cell provider.

Who do you use?

Do you live in the country or city?

Happy with them?

Data speeds ok?

Costly or reasonable?

Does it work in the woods, mountains, trails, etc?


History behind these questions,,, We have verizon and hate it. 13 years ago I switched from sprint since verizon was the only provider with reception here at our present location. They are expensive, a real pain to deal with and the reception has gotten worse and worse.

Folks with cheaper providers that never used to work out here seem to get decent service here now.

They all suck! All have horrible customer service, verizon just has the most service in bfe area's

I've got ATT. it's OK. Not happy. Not pissed.
Up on the Colockum (above Ellensburg, elk hunting) I get a bar of service, whereas Verizon and Sprint got nothing.
However a lot of times on Trail Tour, it's the only service that doesn't have good coverage.

I love metro pcs (tmobile). Ten times better than sprint and not quite as good as verizon, but its 50 bucks a month for unlimited, 10 bucks more for hotspot which i use a fair amount of lately for my tablet and laptop. I get full service at my house in elk plain area and none of the other carriers get as good of service at home.

Its a prepaid service so it doesnt hurt to try and you can keep your old number which was a plus for me.

I use US Cellular and I actually use their prepaid plan as I get the exact same coverage, data, benefits as I did when I had a contract but instead of $140 per month I paid $39 per month. I am in the woods everyday and this provides the best service I have ever had.

I've been with at&t for over 13 years.
I am happy with the coverage I get and the discounted plans I get for being a long customer and a GM discount.

I use pageplus, $30/mth. Uses Verizon cell. unlimited talk/text, 500mb/mth data. Most of the time i'm able to use WIFI so data isn't a big issue. and the rest of the time it's pretty good in rural areas. I bought my iphone outright and not tied to any carrier. I'm usually able to keep a phone for a long time and like the option to change providers if needed, but i've been a Verizon fanboy from the start of cellular devices.
