This weekend, Tim showed me his neat fender flares to make his rig street legal. With a few changes, I adapted his to work on my 4runner with the cage.

1) Go pickup a semi-truck mudflap, 2x3ft is a good length. They're available at most NAPA stores. (I know the Bothell one has a few left ;-))

2) Each slice is 5 7/8s" wide, I used some masking tape and a box cutter to make the cuts. Its fairly straight if you have a steady hand.

3) Once they're cut into slices, match them on the truck. If you have a cage like me, get some metal self-tapping screws. drill a starter hole. Make sure you measure right, or else you'll have floppy fenders!

Once done, it'll look like this!

And there ya go. Parts list:
1: 13/64s drill bit -- ~$3
2: 16 self tapping screws -- ~.017 at mclendons
3: NAPA mudflap -- $10
-------------------------------
Total price: ~$16 for all 4 corners.

that turned out sweet!!

Now your girlfriend's gunna think your ghetto!!! add that if they do rip off that you can spend an extra 17 cents and put em back on!!!

fust as an fyi, if you want the to be really legal they have to have a downward portion on the front portion of the flap. but looks good.

My gf was wondering about that. I figured that forward motion would keep the rooster tails from occuring, which is what the cops ultimately want to avoid.

But yah I might do that if a cop pulls me over =P
