Childish adults....

(rant on)

So, for the last 7 months or so I have been sharing a 10'x25' room with one of the older guys in my platoon... Same rank as me but joined the Army at 32-33. He's now 36ish.. He is one of the biggest babies I have EVER met. He throws tantrums like my 2 and 3 year old nephews and nieces do. Its rediculous. I deal with a lot of really young soldiers. Most of my platoon can't buy thier own alcohol. Some can barely buy cigarettes.. But most of them are well more mature than thier age should allow.

How does someone 13 years my senior act like he is 13 years my junior? This **** drives me insane. I can't do anything about it because: 1. he is the same rank 2. He is older than I am.... Anyone else have to deal with this ****?

I have seen more in my 25 years of life than most have in twice that. I have a ton of real world experience and have been working my ass of for over 10 years already. How does someone older than me act like that?

Some people join the military to stand up and be proud of their country and fight for it while some join because they are such complete and utter losers that no one else would take them.

Oh yes... I get to deal with this first hand every day. Its sad to see what the standards of the new recruits has dropped to.. I'm no super soldier, but I'm not a ****bag and have worked my ass off. Its depressing to see these asshats progress and the same rate as quality soldiers..

Sounds like life to me. No rhyme or reason. Some people are natural born ****-bags. I have dealt with quite a few "grown adults" that act like they are little *****es. They don't make it very far. Life weeds them out sooner or later.

First off "THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE" and Keep yourself safe as you are doing for us.

Can you report him to the base doctors, explaining that he has an emontional problem and it could cause problems with the troops and needs to be handled up to and including kicking his ass out the door.

Good Luck with this problem, but it is not just in the Army, it is everywhere!

He's the same rank as you, age is nothing. If you have to jump his **** and get in his face. Tell him how inmature he acts, etc....Explain things to the platoon sergeant and ask if you can change rooms..

I have only another month and a half in country. So I can deal with him that long..

I know what you mean brother. I spent 4 years in Benning at 375 and saw the worst in Class 11-02. Not much you can do about it other than use them as an example for the young kids on how NOT the conduct themselves.

I agree with this totally! It's sad to see that most new recruits only care about facebook/myspace, ps3, xbox, psp, or any other electrical gadget that makes their life easiest to manage; but don't know squat about managing credit or how to be courteous and polite.

I see the same about dirt bags progressing the same as everyone else. Drives me up the wall.

Not necessarily. We have airbags and helmets these days..... Survival of the fittest has long been thrown out the window. Hell, we have to have a "Caution, hot coffee" so someone doesn't burn themselves with it. Also, "Cruise control is not autopilot" warning so someone doesn't engage cruise in their high zoot RV then leave the driver seat to go make a sandwich.
