Well…
Lets start by the beginning :
I'll introduce you to Nathan, 14 y.o., and his father :
He is the son of a friend and regular contributor to the French pirate4x4 board. Nathan has been riding and following his father since he was born, and his passion for offroad has always been growing and growing. I've met them several times, and they are a few of the most down to earth, nice and friendly people I've met in the 4x4 crowd.
Nathan is friend with everyone, and during last year, he started to get more and more seat time behind the wheel of some friends rigs. It was obvious for everyone that he was ready to go on another level…
In July, the 2013 annual French pirate4x4 meeting was held… During this event, GoldenCoastCustom (GCC), a well-known French fab shop, ran by fabricator Fabrice Ravenet, offered to build a turnkey vehicle to Nathan, for free !
But wait, it doesn't end here ! The GoldenCoastCustom crew promised to build it in only 6 days, with direct live feed from the shop, Monster Garage style !
It was a surprise to Nathan and he was very affected by the news (who wouldn't !) :
Nathan with Fabrice from GCC
Parts were gathered from good people that gave them to him, and some sponsors like :
Euro4x4parts
4Krawl products
ChristopheBouzonMotorsports
Journal du 4x4
Auto Leclerc
GD Productique
Krilex clothing
Kurios arts
Tout-le-niva
Members of the board (Rul, Dave74, Tripoz, Françoise, Babas, Olna, Foxley, Tof, Charly, Elmenos, Trucni, Guillaume, Kurios, Fab21, Nicolas, Clement, Rodolphe)
And Marvin Stammel of AXEL Gear Offroad who provided a full set of goodies and safety equipment, like a helmet signed by the bests in the game (the Tanners family, Bree Molitor, BJ Allen, Justin Tune, Peter Basler, Lori Shirley, nick cooper, Jared, Lawrence Collins, Luke Wilson, Eddie Stags, Jonathan, Adam Woodlee, Steven Woolsey, Richie Keith, Travis Lovett… and more)
The build started last Monday of October, the 28th and Sunday the 3rd the buggy was out and running !
Here is a small timelapse video presenting the build and first run.
Comios Project by Golden Coast Custom
Nathan was here during the whole build process, wrenching, helping, getting involved in his buggy making and doing all the technical choices, like a regular customer.
It goes without saying that he was (he is !) living a dream !
And Christophe Bouzon Motorsports offered him an enclosed trailer to tow his buggy around !
Here are some pics of the almost finished buggy and the GCC family :

Happy Nathan !
Nathan went safely home and now he needs to do some finish work (some panels left, roof, misc. wiring). I think he's already wrenching all this week evenings, because next Sunday, he's out there, wheeling with the big dogs !
Now some specs :
1.9 diesel engine
transaxle manual gearbox
samurai axles (flipped, geared, ARB locked in the near future)
31" Hankook tires
Fox airshocks
Ft/Rr suckdown winches
1710 lbs (complete weight, ready to run !)
