It’s time to step up to the plate and be good people. This forum is half of what it was 5 years ago. Even though, I have met some good people on here. Some of the best fake internet friends a smartass like me could ask for.
I appear to have what I need to provide for my family, I am more fortunate than some due to the business I own. That business is now worthless, but I can still help if someone is in need.
Let’s use this thread to post up any needs that we may have or if you know of others who may need help in this time of uncertainty. Things will get worse before they get better, but God will provide.

I am also a business owner providing business telecom systems (phone systems/VoIP stuff) and Low Voltage cabling for businesses. A huge part of my business is closely tied to the construction industry and the majority of my income is project oriented.

Friday we started getting hammered with telecommuting service requests and expect that will continue this week but I can't make a living simply fulfilling support contracts.

Things have been cruising along for awhile now but I am hugely concerned about what this is going to do to corporate relocations & moves. We have projects in the pipeline but worried those may start to pull back as companies go into a "wait and see" mode.

Just sharing what others are seeing can help relieve the stress while we hope for a (relatively) quick end to this mess.

I'm in low voltage as well (mostly alarm systems and access control, nurse call type stuff) and so far other than schools closing the only thing we've had to deal with is places making us sign wavers to go on their sites. My wife has a restaurant and I'm waiting on the health dept. to tell us we have to close like they've done in Ohio and a few other places.

Verizon and water company are not shutting down your service for 60 days.
I called Verizon and said I was unable to work and lowered my plan. They will not terminate your service for 60 as of now if you have a business plan.
I told them I’m in the outdoor amusement business. Concerts, fairs....
I’m not sure if this is a company wide thing or because I said the right things.

Im curious given the severity of these entire virus and the closures and such. Will this be a common practice and also will it still reflect negatively on a person's credit report if you are forced to make these financial decisions ? I've never had to resort to " missing " payments on anything but if this continues and things go badly I could see some of those decisions being made in my household.

walked an upcoming job with client today, this one has been on the books for about a month now. Typically we take a deposit but waived that requirement on this job.

Problem is I have to supply 4 different custom pieces of pre-cut/manufactured fiber that about 5 days to take delivery and once I order it I own it. Since things are changing every 2 hours I was getting concerned I'd potentially get stuck holding $5k worth of fiber for weeks or months on end.

I had to tell customer that once it's ordered I'm sending an invoice for that material just in case things get shut down b/w delivery and install which is about 1000 years right now.

Talked with another client who has new office starting build out in about 4 weeks, they said "full steam ahead as of right now".

Construction industry here as well...

All things still a go currently for our new construction sites. Most plants I have men in we are wrapping things up this week and they are issuing a minimum two week absence for any outside contractors. I have a good bit of hospital work currently and that is all full steam ahead for now. I have ~30 men on one site and the job has ~400 daily. I am praying we are able to keep plugging along. Boston just issued a ban on construction work yesterday....

I'm in the commercial roofing business... We started a new job (should take 120 days) yesterday and have a pre-bid this afternoon. Also, nothing else we have current has had any mention of slowing down as of yet. I hope it continues this way!

I work in the OR, we have no idea how long we won't be working. All elective surgery canceled.

Auto industry here, we are starting to get asked about 2-3 week shutdowns.... “if they happen” we make formulated chemicals..... we have 2 weeks inventory on the shelf. About to get interesting to say the least.
luckily I work from home but if plants shutdown, then our production will need to slow due to demand.

yeah pretty much solely ISP. We're installing 4 IDFs in a 300K sq/ft warehouse w/ 30' deck to ceilings hieghts.

I just about needed bailed outta jail. Picking up load of roofing insulation, been here many times. Mind you no signs anywhere. Walk into desk to check in and guy freaks the **** out on me screaming to get out you’re not allowed in here get out. I’m like where do I check in. He says call office. My blood pressure was about 1000 over 900 Like I’m suppose to know wtf they’re today policy is. No reason to treat people like they’re a piece of ****.

I feel a little more comfortable after today, our company legal team advised management to print of travel exemption letters and hand them out as Class 1 Railroad carriers are vital to movement of about everything. Basically I have a go were you want when you want letter is **** gets locked down. Tells me BNSF is serious about keeping us at work and weathering this thing out.

My ole lady came out of the bathroom the other day laughing. Said she decided to peel a corner of the wallpaper to see how easy it would come off. One 6’ strip later and I’m in the middle of a bathroom overhaul.

So far... 5:15 Wake up, read news/updates. 6 doze back off. 6:30 wake up, shower/get ready. 7 Walk downstairs into our new homemade office (dining room) turn the computer on. 7:10 Make coffee. 7:15 answer emails remotely (from the bathroom) while working remote. 7:20 Pour another cup of coffee. 7:27 Watch some Puppy Dog Pals with my daughter. 7:40 Take a phone call. 7:50 head to Jacks to grab breakfast for the fam. 8:15 run down marketplace for good deals. 8:50 start typing this.

I'm working from home, as well as my fiance getting things in order for teaching online. She has her own room, but feels the area where the nice TV is should be her office. I just have to chuckle.

I think I am more productive once I take the hours of mindless chit chat and answering questions someone could answer themselves out and focus. That being said, I am in firefighter mode right now and there just haven't been a lot of fires popping up since all the rain has kept our locations out of the field. Once it all hits, I may sing a different tune, but for now I only miss being in the office because of the coffee.

Learned about this helpful little trick last night. If you are working from home and need to scan something as a PDF, newer iPhones have a scanner built into the Notes App (mine is a 5s so it doesn't work).

Open the Notes App > Click the "New Note" Icon (Looks like a piece of paper with a pencil) > Click on the camera button > Click "Scan Documents" > Take picture > click "Keep Scan or Retake Scan" > Click Save > Email as needed.

CamScanner is my go to because it gives you cloud based storage of files you scan

Also working from home. Wife is now working from home, kinda. She’s an occupational therapist for metro schools. They’ve told her to prepare to work from home and that she’s required to. But have not told her how or what she’s doing. Her kids are mostly lower income and have zero technology access.

We also have both kids at home with us full time.

So we’re juggling who watches the kids, who’s working, etc...
