diablo intune

So i have a handheld hp tuner called diablo sport intune1000 but when i hook it up to the obd2port and try to tune it says "failed to read ecm for oiginal backup"
this is a 05 pontiac gto...anyone have an idea of whats causing this?

did you buy it new or used? if you got it used it could still be married to the ECU of the previous owners car. if thats the case you can usually call the manufacturer and pay to have it unlocked. at least thats how it works with a SCT programmer.

well i got it of amazon "new" so im pretty sure the tuner itself isnt locked...maybe ill just return it and get it actually dyno tuned :masturbanana[1]:

yeah it shouldn't be locked then. Have you called diablo and asked them about the error message? For a custom dyno tune you will still need the programmer to load the custom tune to your ECU.
