dodge 2500 rear diff tech question

Is it normal for the gears inside the carrier to be showing through the side if the carrier? The holes appear to be rubbed through by the gears. No clunking or noise from the rear end. Just happened to notice them when I had the cover off to change fluid. Should I fill it up and run it or is it going to go boom?
 
I have no knolidge of this spicific axel but it looks like factory casting holes to promote oiling of the back of the spidergears

This is normal for the Dodge AAM with a limited slip...

Watch this area though, I've seen them crack here under severe use.
 
I read about a few online that have worn through like this. I think I'm going to run it and check it out in a few thousand miles.
