Mods - any chance you can sticky this?

The combo lock system will allow those groups with reservations to come and go as they wish without having to leave a gatekeeper due to limited keys. Users will be directly accountable to the DNR and in turn the DNR will be better informed as to the usage and needs in the ORV system.

Reservations will be made through the DNR SPS Region 360-825-1631. I will likely be the one handling reservations unless I am out of the area. Information required will be Name, Address, phone, email address, number of campsites/RV sites needed, nights needed. The campground will be full once group needs make capacity. Nobody is guaranteed to have the entire place to themselves. I would like feedback whether groups should reserve certain sites or whether it should be first come first serve once reservations are made. If a forest or camp watch is established, I would reserve one side of the shelter for this group.

There is currently room for six RVs in the main parking area. There are ten complete tent campsites, with three parking areas which can accommodate a couple of campers/trailers each.

Hope this clears things up. With the system in place we have currently over this weekend, it seems unreasonable for a group to go to the effort of planning and getting the key, but having to open the site to everyone before the needs of their own group are met. Inside and outside of the gate, people can stand to have been nicer to each other.

Thanks for the info. I never knew people could make reservations. I posted it on the EWOR Forum under Elbe Hills.

It in fact is more than COULD, it's a requirement. No reservation, no camping.

Thanks for posting it up on your site as well. I hope they can get signs up there soon!

holiday weekends its first come first serve :rb:

Did you just talk to Nancy? I always thought it was by reservation.

I've also never seen that campground FULL. I've seen lots of folks there and it was mighty crowded, but there was still room to squeeze a motorhome or two in and room for 20+ more tents. There's a lot more tent sites back there than most folks realize.

In regards to this. LOCK the gate after entry. you will be responsible for anybody that comes in.

This past weekend, I made a reservation for 3 tent spots.
When i arrived the camp ground was pretty full. Nancy came up to me the next morning and said, "this is way more people than you told me".
I said, the only people that are with me is "horus" all these other people were here when i arrived.

She was NOT happy.
The only people that had reservations were Me and 1 other group. The others did not have a reservation.
Now, i don't really care about some of the people as i knew them and would gladly take responsibility. But there were a few that i had no idea who they were.

If the people do not have the combo, and you do not know them (or willing to be responsible for them) DO NOT LET THEM IN.

If you do, and they trash the place, Nancy will hold you accountable.
