My 89 f150 has a 31 spline drum brake ford 8.8 in it with 3.55 gears.
I was curious about how many people have swapped a 97+ explorer 8.8 in for the disk brakes.

Is it the same width?
Is it the same 5x5.5 bolt pattern?
Did the e brake require modification?

It's about 6" narrower than your rear axle, with a 4.5" bolt pattern, and smaller brakes.

Buy an aftermarket disk brake kit.
