I’m getting down to one rig/project and will really miss this Ftoy. Many of you have seen this thing go where most thought it had little chance. Both my kids love to drive this on the trail and they really learned a ton about wheeling in this thing and I feel very comfortable letting them drive it as it is so forgiving and dependable. I can’t say enough about how these things wheel, keeps up with most buggies until you hit the limits of 37’s and willingness to skinny pedal it.
If you want an open air low cost buggy, this is the rig. It’s simple, light, predictable and dependable.
This started out as a 80’s 4runner and converted to the Hendrix Formula Toyota spec racing chassis. It was then converted to the rock crawler Ftoy status that it is in today. So here is a list of parts/mods for this beast of a Yota.
Chevrolet 350ci mild cam.
Block hugger style headers and single flowmaster muffler sounds awesome and not too loud
All aluminum radiator with Derale two speed fan low on always and high thermostat control with override switch in cab
Painless wiring kit
Propane system by IMPCO freshly rebuilt vaporizer/ 425 mixer and dual on board tank setup
3 aluminum 30# tanks (6-8 gal each depending on who fills them)
Turbo 350 transmission with hayden remote cooler w/fan I think 40k BTU with thermo control and override switch in cab and art carr shifter
Marlin crawler box set up (double high/low cases) so you get super low gearing
Front Toyota axle fully trussed, gusseted chromo dirty thirty axles ARP studs and 5.29 gears welded, wheel spacers
Rear Toyota V6 width axle fully trussed and 5.29 gears welded wheel spacers
DIY brand “inboarded” shackles and aftermarket springs in rear
Stainless brake lines, all three
Fresh fab'd front drive shaft.
Fox reservoir shocks and pneumatic bump stops front
Bilstein 5100 shocks and polly Lightning bump stops in rear
Full hydraulic steering with new pump remote reservoir and quick realease steering wheel
Rear brake bias controller and line lock
Smittybuilt 8000 winch with fresh synthetic line and cab controls
Has OBA compressor but have not re commissioned it yet
Oil bottle storage rack
3 ammo can compartments
Multi colored rock lights
Front seats are Corbeau with 3point double shoulder belts
Rear is a stock 4Runner with two lap belts (great for kids and small adults)
Tires & wheels four 17” trail gear creeper bead locks and 37” Interco TrxUS stickies (best crawler tire I have ever ridden)
Spares- Steering pump complete w/pulley, rear dif complete drum to drum, marine stereo that came in it, OBA compressor and power distribution block(need tank or use tube chassis), rev limiter and front drive shaft.
Asking $10500
Or make me an offer, I want to get started on an LJ, need tons, LS motor & trans, Tcase
