When I was a millwright building and installing custom grain handling systems our engineer would use Google Earth to design a system instead of going out with a manager to the site and doing it together. That led to a lot of arguments. I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard. " well it works on paper!"
I'm working on a water/sewer job in chattanooga now and on the plans it shows two lines representing the water/sewer, which are required to have a ten ft separation. The plans scale ten ft. When you put the coordinates in the topcon and drive a stake for each one, the stakes are 16" apart. I believe they outsmarted themselves.
