Header Paint

I just sand blasted the headers for the Jeep, and I'm ready to put a good coat of high temp paint on them. Any suggestions? :redneck:

VHT and follow the directions to the letter.

If they are SPOTLESS clean then just soak them in Trans fluid for a day, Install and wipe all the prints off with fresh trans fluid. Fire them up and hold a fast idle for 15 minutes and they are blued, just like a gun barrel and will not rust for a long time. I do this to new header installs.

How hot does a header get assuming the engine is operating normally?

Typical 400-600 degree's. More if you retard the timing :redneck:

Thats how we would do them on the race car. They would turn a dark grey color and stay that way.

Anyone ever seen high temp powder coating?

I used POR's Black Velvet high temp paint on my exhaust manifolds. Worked great and they are still a very nice black.
