What was being welded on $'s rig?

I didn't stay and wheel with you guys mostly cuz I don't just invite myself along with another crew.

My pillow block.......it didn't solve the issue. But the zip ties did. :redneck:

I have spare pillow blocks in the tow rig .......ALWAYS....just so ya know.

That was Brandy......I forgot to mention the other issue we had with her recovery. Both times we jacked up her rig to get the knuckle "fixed" we forgot to slip the front driveline back in.....:mad:

And it wasn't the tierod that was broken.....it was the knuckle....damn Toyotas.:redneck:

Napa semi truck mud flaps cut in half bolted on with 6 L brackets per, they tend to keep the tires from shredding against the cut-outs and flex around trees and such.

My comment was just tongue 'n' cheek. Almost every time I've ever seen you while in your buggy, you're rippin', all business, so I just figured on Saturday that you didn't feel like wasting time BS'in since we really didn't have much of a hard 'n' fast plan. I would imagine that anyone I've ever met would be happy to have you along. I'd actually really like to witness your wheelin' prowess as I've heard you're a damn good driver.
 
Missing a fun ass weekend of wheeling makes me motivated to fix my ****.

I got to the parking area around 10:15, moved up under the power lines to unload and drove around under the power lines and through the puddles for a while to make sure she wasn't going to fall apart on me. Met up with a another guy with a grand who had his son in an XJ blow a brake line and they had to run off and get a replacement.

By the time I got back to the trailer I was haring a groan I couldn't isolate. Since it was only happening during some twisting I figured a u joint or something. I headed up to trail of room, played on the wall a little and then I remembered what DUMBASS I was. I had forgot to fill the front diff with lube! Put her in 2wd, unlocked the hubs and limped back to the trailer.

All in all a good day. I haven't ripped the front end apart yet but I'm guessing I'll be replacing all the bearings, seals and gears. Hopefully the ARB will be fine.

How much assembly lube did you use? I think for a trail rig you are probably alright......take it apart and look for gawling.......but I'd bet yer fine.I'd fill that sucker and run it!!!

I had an employee that ran his D30 front dry for months till he remembered to fill....he wheeled and drove it on the street.......filled it up and never looked back:awesomework:

Agreed. I think you have a good 50-50 chance of being all good dude. Especially the front axle.
 
Yeah, I'm certainly hoping that I'll be able to fill 'er up with fluid and go but I set up that nine a little on the tight side and that groaning noise she was making was pretty intense. At least it was intermittent and not a constant.

I didn't use all that much assembly lube. I poured enough gear oil on the bearings to soak them, but nothing on the gears.

We'll see. I hope to be back out some time this weekend.
