I guess this is one more topic of this started but here goes. Im running a good old fashion Carb on a stock Chevy 350 and now trying to decide on Holley projection kit (which I can get for $500) or looking for propane. I like the idea of running gas over pane for availablity but propane would be much simpler to install and tune. Thought about pulling engine all together and going 5.3 LS but that's major surgery. Looking for input on projection any problems or what y'all think. Thks

I would like to know about this also. I have 4.3 i want to go with something like propane or carb. The reason is i don't
Know much about fuel injection.

I have a Holley projection I am looking to sale run decent on my motor just was not enough and its a kinda aggravating to tune, but other than that its decent for the money, my brother ran one years ago on basically a stock motor and it worked perfectly, I will take 350 for mine if your interested, I have the complete system.

Thks for the input but believe ill pass still up in the air about it I do like the simplicity of propane just not quite sure yet don't want to deal with tuning issues that I've read about some love, some hate I guess it just depends on who you ask and how deep there pockets are

I ran the projection for two years. Worked perfact. The 670 I ran will only support 270 hp.went to a bigger motor andswitdhed to pane Now I've went to even a bigger motor and switched to fast fuel injection . Can't stop it from flooding when cold.

I went with propane because it is simple and no tuning required, I don't think you can go wrong with propane.

thks for the input guys guess ill be looking for propane kit now. i like simple especially on the trial. less wires the better!!!!!!!!!

I got a 4.3 and run Howell Fuel Injection, the simplest thing ever, call them, tell what you got and what it goin in, they build a harness with only what you need and it all labled, hook a wire up to your 12 volt switch, then the +, - battery, crank and go, the only thing you will just need to run a return line back to the tank, no biggie, It took me less than 30 min to have mine runnin after i opened the box, all there conneters are waterproof, just need to put the ecm in a dry place

Tim how far out is your main adjusment for under load? i just have a roller 383 and mine 15/16" out from base of 425, i just bought a new 425 and wondering where to start at, think my old 425 is fawkd up or sumthin, motor dies under WOT for few seconds then hav to reprime to fire it back up

That might be your tank some of them have a valve that plugs the hole for some reason, I have never had a tank do that to me but i have had a pickup line break off and i have to lay that tank down to get the fuel out of it, I dont really know on the adjustment i just stuck mine on and fired it off and it ran like a champ, a guy told me that all those screws do is on the starting process but i have also heard they will lean and richen your engine, i spent a whole day playing with them and could not tell a difference at WOT no matter where the screw was at, so i gave up and just run the piss out of it, a good person to contact is Buddy Gamel he has been messing with propane longer than i have been alive.

Thanks bro, i gonna bolt new mixer on it before Harlan fall crawl and see if that helps, hope see you guys there :drinkers:

tim, are you running dual mixers to feed that motor??
ive been told thatpane is only good to about 350/400 hp.

i was thinking your motor is quite a bit more than that???

Yeah im running dual 425s on a custom adaptor i made here at work to put on top of the low plane edelbrok intake, there suppose to support up to 300/350hp never heard the 400 but who knows mine runs real well except for starting every now and then i have to hit my prime buttons, just because my cam does not pull enough vaccum is what i have been told but i really like my propane, i would like to put mine back on gas a see if it really makes a difference.

ive got a 383 that i am planning to build, Havent decided if I want to stay with pane, or make the switch to gas.

i didnt know tims runs duals, i got a roller 383 542hp at flywheel and i cant keep it running at wot, mayb i need duals :driving:

Yeah sounds like it to me, one kit will not supply enough to run that motor.

I built a duel setup for mine . Put two throtle bodies and hooked them up on progressive linkage. Cranked and ran on one ,but kicked ass when you mashed on it I've got it for sale, but can't post pics. Changed my motor back to gas because my engine builder wanted my new motor on gas. By the way, gas kicks ass. One more thing, comp cams can grind you a cam for propane if you ask them to. It gave me 50 hp with nothing else changed.
