Any of ya'll been watchin Howe & Howe on Discovery? Quite a lil success story with a DARPA funding (Basically where uncle sam gives them x amount of dollars to countinue their projects) I listened to an interview of these guys over a year ago.

Over all I liked the show, but I'm curious to see what the format's going to be. It 1/2 seems like a big add/infomercial for there "stuff", but also cool to see some unique stuff.

There "ballistics" test as a mild joke. One shot each. I would have done the single shot tests, inspected, then laid into it as a real "live fire" situation would involve.

I also would have tried some more perpendicular shots, such as a "bad guy" with a healthy fire power up on a catwalk or roof or???


Pretty cool little rig however, but if they really want to "mass produce" them, they are going to need to get their act it gear.

I'm watching it right now. You dont have to build something to know what will and won't penetrate a steel plate. I think this data was figured out a long time ago.

The military has had armored vehicles for years... there's plenty of data out there. No point in wasting a truck load of ammo to prove it...

From my experience I'm curious as to how ****in loud it' be in there. Armored humvees were loud enough gettin lit up:haha::haha:

I watched it last night. Pretty interesting. I wish I was involved with the testing. They were shooting at it head on. Ofcourse the rounds are going to ricochet off 30* front face. Shoot if from the side and see how well it does. I'm sure small arms fire will just ricochet but a 50 cal will go clean through it and kill the occupant. Hell it penetrated head on but was stopped by the kevlar cloth by luck.

My other concern was they only had 1 door. Ok what if the damn thing lands on its drivers side. How is the driver going to get out? Now he's open to all sorts of danger.

Looks like to me, that they are a couple inventors that have never been in combat and are just dreaming up ideas.

Actually if you watch the slow mo, as far as I could tell it didn't actually penetrate, the spatter ripped of one of the bolt heads holding that plate on the front.


Or maybe it did, but I agree, a 50 cal (armor piercing) would have gone right through the side and probably through that kevlar.

I couldn't recall if they used armor plate or just steel, I missed that part (screaming son, he's teething... again), saw some pretty amateur mistakes on that plasma table however. If the metals warping like that, your either have something set up wrong or need to look into Laser or Waterjet. For a disposable prototype, OK, for production, they need to step (and make some fabrication jigs to put it together).

The driver inside with a 50 cal shot to the mid torso would be a bloddy mess inside. I wonder who would be incharge of clean-up and restoring it??

But that thing would be great if it was remote control and had its own 50 cal gun mounted on top. :awesomework:

I think their head is in the right place... I didn't hear any of them declare anything as a finished product. I don't look at their vehicles as possible full off production vehicles, but ideas they can contribute to others as well.

My brother used to have a H1... he used to buy balljoints by the dozen from Lynwood Hummer because he couldn't find them anywhere else, and it **** them out on a REGULAR basis :eeek:

Some of the stuff they have done is bad ass as far as inovations in tracked vehicle suspension. The ballistic impact/penetration testing on the badger was dumb and un scientific.

I was thinkin on the badger, what would happen if it flopped over on the side with the one opening door. :eeek:
