I've got a friend who managed to roll his 99 Limited 4Runner last week. He currently only has liability, and not full coverage on the vehicle. He's looking to get some cash outta the deal either by selling the vehicle as a whole or parting out. The drive train has about 150K and the body is toast. What would you guys suggest, or would anyone be interested????.....

I would tell him to cut his losses... It's been rolled, prolly not turned off as soon as it rolled, causing the bottom end to lose oil pressure and dry out, bearings are toast... motor rebuild. body is gone, so there's no use other than a chassis or seats (and i am guessing the driver's seat will need to be cleaned! :fawkdancesmiley::haha:) Tell him to slow down...:eeek:

Yup is sure was. I've never really delt with anything like this before, so maybe I'll learn something as far as scrappin a rig.:haha: I forgot to mention the drive train and frame are sound, although I doubt the frame would be an interest to anyone but I figured someone might need a AT tranny or V6. Not sure either how many guys run the newer 8" (???) rear ends in trail rigs, but his does have the stock E-locker.

It "was" shut off right afterwards within 3-4 seconds at the most, so like any other Yota motor its more than fine.... I figure the motor and wiring harness are def worth some cash, as well as the tranny and tcase... and after some research I'm purty sure the rear end is worth some cash too.....

sure, anything is worth cash. but now days **** tends to sit around a lot longer before getting sold, and usually for a lot cheaper too.

I dont think i want the whole thing for 1500. I dont want a big pile of **** sittin in the driveway for that long.

...best advise I could give is to tell your buddy to carry full coverage insurance. It is pretty cheap, and if something like this happens, saves ALOT of cash. ****, I carry full covereage on my 85 Runner, and my 95 Bronco, both of which I am sure are worth less than that Runner before it was wrecked.

sorry, not to throw this too far off but.... cheap? i guess "cheap" is a relative term. :eeek:
counting my tow rig, and my bike, ive got 5. full coverage is not an option.

I have 4, and have full coverage on all of them. I guess it depends on your opinion of CHEAP, but for full coverage on all 4 of my vehicles, I still pay under $200 a month. The extra little $$ for full coverage is worth my peace of mind in case I wreck any of them, or if they get stolen.
