LS 2

"As it was in the beginning, performance is at the heart of the GTO. A 6.0-liter LS2 V-8 produces an impressive 400 horsepower (298 kw) and 400 lb.-ft. of torque (542 Nm)."

I know a guy in Calera that specalizes in LS motors from those cars if you need one. I have his shop name and number in my phone

they are pretty damn easy to get more power from as well.....cam and tune that ***** and you will easily be over 450HP....add a little No2 for those straight aways! booyang :flipoff1:

the ls2 is the way to go IMO. You get the same weight of an ls1 with the displacement of a iron block. I have made a hair over 500hp to the wheels. Granted that is in a car with aftermarket and a custom cam and intake, oh yeah and a 4" stroke. It would make for a fun ride in a buggy loller.gif

Don't know how much you're willing to spend but if you're not trying to be a cheap-ass but just looking for a good deal I know where you can probably get an LS2 or possibly even an LS3 reasonably priced with harness, ecm, etc. PM me if you want the info.

LS3 is just a bored LS2. I'm not sure if they just bored the LS2 or enlarged the piston sleeve bores and put bigger sleeves in. (I think they just bored though as cylinder wall spacing is still the same.) I think '07 was the first year for the LS3. It's good for another 15hp and 15 ft. lbs. I'd just get an LS2 and put headers on it and then you're easily at 415/415. Like someone above mentioned, they respond crazy to cams. With a cam, a tune, and some headers on an LS2 430 - 460 hp is realistic. If you stroke one the power is ungodly.

You planning front or rear engine? If rear, try to find an SSR oil pan. It is front-sump with oil cooler hookups. I just sold mine today as I am doing front engine. Just FYI.

Any other info I'll try to help as I am CONSTANTLY researching for my swap.

The only thing with an LS2 I would suggest ditching the drive by wire for a cable driven throttle body. I thought the LS 3 were variable cam timing but I"m not sure on that 100%. Any way about it you will love an LS 2. You like stock engines for simplicity and reliability and they have it for sure. The power from them is awesome. They are smooth and controllable but pull for ever it seems like.

If your up for some reading/searching, hit up http://ls1tech.com/forums/. There is some knowledgable guys, as it gets confusing with all the different LSs out. Best thing is, if you need to search on LS1tech, you do not have to login/register to use their search feature.
