Thinking of getting back into the rock crawling game and looking at doing a large powered rig. Been a ford guy since as I was born and still am but the hp/$ ratio is very enticing even to a diehard blue oval guy. I would have more $ in fi on a Windsor motor than what I could get a running ls for. My ?'s- what company is most using to cut down the harness and flash the ecm? Any years of the motors better than others? Will do a cam swap on the motor before the install. I found that Pacific Fab sells a ready to run ps for $1750. Is that a good price? I know I could get a junkyard engine for around $800 but would then have to have the harness cut and even flashed. Just looking for some opinions from those who went the ls route.

I found a 2001 6.0L with 100k on it for $800 with accessories, then picked up a harness from these guys Performance Systems Integration , plus a tune up kit and programed ECM that they sell. All that put me around $1,700. It can probably be done cheaper depending on the specific engine you want or what deals you can find.

We got our 6.0 ls from kevin at pacfab and while it was slightly more than a junk yard pull out it showed up clean as hell with a cable throttle body installed and brand new harness with the computer all ready flashed ready to drop in and go. Around here the 6.0 motors are bringing top dollar so it didn't cost that much more anyway.

Never been impressed with the 5.4's and those bitchees is wide as hell! No mileage listed on their website that I saw. Will probably go the junkyard route and get the other pieces as funds allow. Was mainly wondering who the hardline peeps who had done ls swaps were getting harness' and ecm flashes from? Hey light's, you got something other than guidebook to check out your lighting products? Need to get a led bar for my kid hauler (t4).

jim's performance cuts down harnesses and tunes ecm's. but i would suggest getting someone else to tune your ecm.

Give this guy a call he's in Flintstone Georgia did great work on my truck and build a motor for my buggy very knowledgeable he had a couple 6.0 sitting in the shop

Josh at Ridgetop Auto has done several of our harnesses for us. I think he will cut one down for around $150-175 range using the factory harness. 270-670-1391 Josh

There is also a shop in north al out of Huntsville called Ricky Childers inc. He is a LS specialist does a very clean job and can do just about anything from street cars to rock crawlers. He is advertised on here in vendors I think.
