whats the rubber mounts?

http://www.howeperformance.com/accessories-coolers.htm Bottom right

Basically a shock resevoir mount. The cooler has a recess on each end to accept em, use 2 instead of one of the aluminum mounts. The area I have to mount mine is tight, so I am going this way, plus they are $2.50/each ;D

Well I am really enjoying getting the kinks worked out of this thing. Took the front clip off and everything that goes along with it. Needed to hit the front with some rattle can and flush out the radiator. I also broke out the steel wool and polishing kit to bring the shine back to the Ron Davis unit up front.

So far I have done the following:

Steering
Howe In-Line Steering Cooler w/ -8AN fittings
-10AN High Flow Suction Hose from Resevoir to Pump w/ -10AN Fittings

Cooling
Coolant Flush and good cleaning of Ron Davis radiator
Removed Transmission Style Cooler mounted to radiator
New 180 degree t-stat
Sent Electric WP to Meziere Enterprises for rebuild (new seals and bearings)
New Radiator Hoses

Next on the list is 2-3 weekends of wheeling and then I am tearing it down to focus on paint, cleaning, prep and safety requirements. Hope to start in early December and then have it back in the woods by mid-January.

Take the Rad. to a shop. They will dip it and it will be just like a new one. Prob. wont cost much.

They will put it in a tub of cleaner and clean the inside and out making it look brand new inside and out. Good idea since you have it out.

I know, I know. I am looking for some brush on header paint. Hopefully I can find some at the parts store.

You don't need brush on. Put you a WD40 straw in the end of the paint can and start sprayin. thumb.gif

I think it is a very low dose of acid in the tank. Or you can go to the truck stop and get some stuff they use to clean there tanks. It is acid also so dont let it sit on the alum or it will turn it and look like crap. Take it to the rad. shop and get some mothers and pollish the tanks when you get iit back.

Little update, got my steering pieces yesterday and I was very impressed with Howe's product. The cooler is perfect and in terms of flow it is straight through with a bore about the size of a gun barrell on a shotgun. Really nice cooler for $60. I sent Jeff Howe a bunch of pics of all my components and hoses and the only thing he pointed out was my supply line from Res to Pump was high pressure hose which has a smaller ID. He sent me up with a pushlock hose (big ID) and new fittings. I plumbed everything up last night and it cleaned up the look a lot, plus no more cooler mounted to the radiator taking up fresh air! These mods should make sure I never starve my pump of fluid! I am excited to get the cooling and steering sorted out some! I will try it out this weekend.

Going to put the radiator and grill back on and then blead the steering system tonight. I have a huge box of amber's on the bench for KOH. My father in law put together an insane collection of lights, now I just have to pick one!

thumb.gif I beat the temps will be right on all day everyday now. Hell cleaning up the rad and getting rid of that cooler in front of it was probably enough right there ! thumb.gif

Post up some pics of the coolers, I plan on putting one on soon.

Cool deal....will headers fit?

Don't know, it would take some measuring and checking but block huggers would maybe work. I hate the LOOK of the mainfolds to but I hear that they don't work loose like header bolts. Hopefully this time next year I can tear it down completely and have a bunch of little things done that I don't have time or money for now. Headers, ceramic coating of the exhaust, powder coat chassis, etc.
