Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

So John and I rode a good bit on Sat and all is well. Cooling is GREAT now. My fan is on a thermostat control but it has an override to run all the time. I always ran it all the time and it would still get hot quick and always ran at 200 or better. Now if I run the fan all the time it will not even get to 180. So I didn't use the overide switch for most of the day, as it is it comes on at 195 and off at 180. Takes it only a few mintues to get it there! Steering may still have some air in it, it got hot a few times and the pump is whining. MMORV was pretty dry this weekend, I was able to crawl just about everything even trails I have never made before like Punisher, center of Primos and center of Crow's Nest. 1 to 2 more rides and some more fine tuning before I start the tear down and maintenance.

Hyd. steering bleeds very quick just from running it. If you drove it around, and it's whinning, bleeding it more ain't gonna fix it.

I was wondering why your rig was so muddy yesterday, going up Punisher explains that. laughing1

Funny part is that I didn't even get muddy on Punisher. Crawled the bottom section with the big nasty hole, then bumped it at the top. There is a huge mud hole on the road that leads to V-Notch and there are also a few nasty mud holes coming off the trail at the top of Loop Springs. I think that is where most of the mud happened

steering updates for those of us very interested in 1st hand experience.... thumb.gif

Seems to be OK, not perfect but good. My lines were routed close to my headers and the system would heat up quickly. I rerouted some lines and it was good this weekend. I beat on V-Notch for a while with no issues.

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

Mine started to come apart yesterday. I am not going to complete tear mine down but I am pulling all the body panels and all the interior. Seats are already out and the covers are going to PRP to make new ones. PRP is also doing my window nets. Skins and new sheet of Aluminum are with TK's buddy Tommy, he is going to cut me some new ones and make me a trick little tcase shifter cover so I can mount my shifter boot finally. I will be coating all of my interior panels with this stuff called Lizard Skin. It is like a bedliner, but it has ceramic in it to cut temps. Joe from EOR told me about it and says it works great. Joe Hartz is going to lay down some new paint on my body panels and skins and Haley is going to help me section my new hood. So lots going on in December! P and I are going to get cracking on maintenance items ASAP.

Hopefully end of Dec or first of January will be weldering up weekend! Nothing big just a spare mount and the pass side tbar which we need to figure out this week. Also want to tab my clear kick panel area.

This thing is gonna be a new rig come January!

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

In getting it nekkid we found a couple of small things that "could" have gone missed , one the Matt mentioned being an intermitent issue was the ground wire on his fuel pump was in really bad shape, he said he had experienced the fuel pump dying randomly and this surely caused that. Obviously we repaired and re routed that issue.

If you recall he had that tranny cooler get damaged early on , after he had bought this rig. It has hardline all the way from tranny to cooler ( lots of vibes and no flex there ) Over time that is surely what caused that failure so it will get treated as well. He has a really good list of thing's to address to get it ready and make it better / more reliable all together. Not that this rig wasnt already sorted out pretty damn good, but man what a great , reliable rig this thing should be for a long long time after all the attention and little things getting looked at and tweaked ! :afro:
