So on my 97 Grand 5.2 it has the stock transfer case which is all wheel drive or 4 low. How much of a hassle is it to swap transfer case's and which one should I be looking for to swap in?

Basically I want to keep it at a minimum, it serves dual purpose as my Daily driver and wheeler right now. Just curious to know what I'm looking at.

The common swap is a NP242 transfer case from ZJ or XJ. I've done lots of these swaps and it's VERY easy. The front halfs of the NP242 and the NP249 that's currently in your rig are 100% identical. You leave the t-case in the rig, unbolt the rear half, split the NP242 and swap in rear case half, guts, shaft, etc. and bolt it up to your existing front case half. Some minor linkage mods and you're set.
