Nashville Folks

I hope everyone in that area is OK. We have an office up there and have 3 folks they haven't been able to reach yet and I have family in Mt. Juliet, have talked to them and they are shaken but OK. Some nasty tornadoes went through last night so if you're the praying type send some that way.

I've talked to most of the folks I know from here in the greater Nashville are and they have all been good to go at this point.

Downtown Nashville got hit hard as did the Baxter to Cookeville areas with confirmed tornadoes in those places.

Multiple dead in Nashville and at least 8 confirmed dead in the Baxter/Cookeville area at this time.

Prayers go out to all those affected buy these tornado's! Living in Panama City I know all to well about devastating storms....

Thanks, my phone has stayed busy all day.

Right now they are still saying 77 missing, and have a temporary morgue set up in a large church because the hospital is full.

He's good. Kiddos thought it was fun to stay in the downstairs bathroom overnight, but wife and dog thought otherwise.

It's crazy, was browsing facebook this morning and a girl i went to highschool with had family in cookville BiL/SiL/kid and they all were killed.

I messaged with Jeremy York(Rockbouncing barbecue) and he said he is all right, but in his words "We are ok a lot dead around us but we alive" He is in Cookville area.

man that's how it was in 2011. There were like 8 deaths within 1/4 of where we were. We barely made it out. I dont wish that upon anyone. It's some horrible ****.

I always wanted to see a tornado and was fascinated by em but after the Dayton Ohio tornados last year I would never wanna be in one, those hit at night too and was a ef4, I drove right through it the day after and it literally gave me goosebumps to see the absolute carnage. There’s still houses with tarps on roofs. I would have a hard time sleeping whenever it storms the rest of my life if I lived through that. Good luck and best wishes to anyone affected

It messes with you for sure. The ones that went through Apison in 2011 were EF4 and i didnt recognize the farm that I had grown up on.

There's a semi interactive map that shows the tornado path and even shows some of the damages in the area. I haven't looked at the other areas too closely, but I noticed the map shows some (but not all) of the damages around Lebanon and around the Cookeville area too.

It appears the Cookeville area was updated sometime Saturday morning since I was able to find my truck and trailer parked during the cleanup.

Just saw this and getting caught up on hardline for the first time since the tornados.

We are good. Missed the house by less than a mile. Got pretty intense for a minute. My home town of Mt Juliet and of course Cookeville got hit hard. That’s been tough to see.

I started a new job two months ago with Verizon. So my last two weeks has been spent running wide open and trying to restore fiber service to the entire north side of Nashville. Basically everything aerial fiber related, north of I-40 got destroyed. I’ve had crews and splicers working non stop ever since. Got the word at 1030 last night that splicing was complete. Headed in now to check circuits.

Fixed the last circuit yesterday at 3pm.

I was talking to my boss, never has Verizon had 6 fiber cuts from one storm. The path it took was just perfectly in line with everything it shouldn’t hit.

Even took down our long haul fibers from Michigan to Florida that run on the tva power lines.
