Need Help! 83 jeep CJ7 has no top end power

It was hiding. ***** runs from him.

hahaha good one!!!!:haha: But It's not my jeep so the ***** was hiding from someone before me.:fawkdancesmiley:

Thanks for your help Treeclimber!

Does any one know how to ID an AMC 20 rear end? I also need to change the rear pinion seal and all the rear diff has for numbers is right on the bottom and it say "266"

thats all it says anywhere on the diff:eeek:

Not oval, round like Charlie Brown's head. Or do you mean which particular AMC 20, and as far as I know, that doesn't matter, they're all the same.

here's a pic: http://www.jeeptech.com/axle/amc20.jpg

No It is not that diff

Thanks for the Picture that helped a ton. Now I wonder whats in it if its not a AMC 20........:eeek:

It's a stock 83 jeep renegade cj7...... i thought could it be a dana 35? should i post a pic of it?

hahahahahaha!!! I never even saw that dam tag:mad:.....dee dee dee....OMFG!!

Here's your sign!:rolleyes:

Thanks Again Treeclimber!:haha::beer:

Typically, those tags will read something like:
41 10 4.10

Implying 41 teeth on the ring gear, 10 teeth on the pinion gear, and an axle ratio of 4.10

If you only have the 41 10, then you can do the math yourself.

Occasionally you'll see a letter, indicating a type of factory limited slip or locker differential
