Packing heat?

Looking to get some info from some people who have their conceal carry, not that I don't own or know who to handle my fire arms. I just feel I need to get legal and make sure I know my rights as an American citizen. In order to better defend myself from others and the government.
In all seriousness it has become apparent to me that I am now responsible for more than just myself. I have a wife and two children under the age of 5. My father and father in law are reaching retirement age, which leaves me the Alfa male , in our small circle of family. In light of some of the events that are going on in our country and around the world. I find it necessary to step up my game.
I will be going through all the steps the next couple of month to become fully legal.
I also will be spending some "internet time" on this matter, and less on busted knuckle films and porn. Anything I find out that I find interesting I will post a link.
So if anyone has a good source of info, recommend a training class, or advise please post up.
Thanks and god bless
Ed

A good instructor and class is all you need, maybe a local law man around your town is what I done and all the rules and safety was put on the table for me what states I could and what not well worth the money (no more background checks for buying guns) Good luck and IMO get a micro size gun so it can be carried with ease almost anywhere, my S&W hammerless J frame I carry is a little to big for summer time outtings with shorts and Tee shirt

Re:

Find a gun you like and a holster. The holster can make a huge difference. If you hate the way it feels or looks you won't carry it for long. If you are not comfortable with shooting or legal stuff take a class. I personal carry the glock 26. Its not the smallest pistol but I am 6'5" about 255 so I can carry it well. The biggest thing is to practice the draw from your concealed holster. You may be a badass marksman but if you cant get it out of the holster what good does it do?

I am a lawman and I wish every person who legally can carry a firearm would do it. The little **** head thugs would think twice if there was a good chance they would be looking down the business end of a barrel. Remember, when seconds count we are probably minutes away!

Re:

I carry a Glock 23 when I'm wearing something I can comfortably conceal it with. If I need to hide it a little better I carry my Glock 42. Sometimes I'll even carry both. I have a inside the waist holster for both and the 42 can even comfortably go in my pocket if need be. It might be small but it should be able to do the job and at least help me get back to the truck to get to the bigger gun if need be. But if I can get to the truck chances are I'm leaving the scene. Whatever you buy make sure it's comfortable and practice practice practice. Practice drawing from concealment more than anything. Some people think they have to spend a lot of time at the range plinking targets , but don't think of the fact that when **** hits the fan the first step is getting it out quickly and effectively and chances are you won't get to set up like you do at a range.

I carry a Glock 30 with an inside the waist holster from comp tec

It is worth every penny and made in America.
The guy that taught my class told us to practice with an unloaded gun to draw from your holster into a mirror. He said if you draw looking into the mirror you can see where you are going to hit your target. And save on ammo but still be able to practice everyday.

I carry a kimber ultra carry 2 and the wife has a glock 42 in her purse when she travels with the kids. " she is a teacher and sadly can't carry it everyday". We usually shoot about 50 or so shells every month just to stay tuned up. I heard they were changing up the process to make it harder for people to get their license. Good luck and hope you get it soon. Every legal American should be packin In my opinion.

Re:

All I'm going to say about not being allowed to carry places is that it's also illegal for anybody to search you. So if it's concealed how would anybody ever know? I would rather save my life and live to face the consequences than die without it. That is if we're to ever do such a thing.

I am a big 1911 fan but they are hard to conceal so I don't carry one often. I usually carry a Ruger LCP 380 with self defense ammo in either a DeSantis G3 pocket holster or a DeSantis ankle holster. Both are very comfortable.

Glock 23 is on me everyday..I work in one of the most dangerous city's around..flint mi..so I don't leave with out it.I made my own kydex/leather holster.I agree with everyone on practice practice practice.

Good luck, it's a nice feeling you know you have it in case things get hairy.Goodluck

Re:

Take a course with special forces teachers that teach you the proper techniques, procedures and intangibles to keep you alive. Fire tons of rounds, practice the way you play, live to **** another day.

I carry one to three weapons a day. I shoot enough. I am comfortable with my abilities and feel that I am more of an asset with a pistol than a liability.

I've taken some courses with these guys and recommend them if they still take civilians. If not, I know a company in South Africa that is the tits. Costs $6k but if you are serious, it'll teach you all you need to know, on a basic level, for PSD, convoy/automotive ops, and marksmanship.

I've spent a few bucks on knowing how to handle myself in a lot of situations. No offense to LEO's, but they typically focus on deescalation whereas I focus on living through any event. I am more than willing to go to court on this if need be. Just know how much you want to spend and how much you and your families safety means to you.

Once I get all the bugs worked out of my jeep where it doesn't take up so much time and money and I have room for another hobby I want to get more into shooting and tactical ****.

I have no wife, no kids, no mortgage or rent and no I don't live at home. So once I fix some dumb **** on the jeep I can have a other hobby.
