Pick up canopies?

Been thinking about putting a canopy on my pickup, sick of the dog fur in the cab and I hardly need an open bed anymore. What do you know? Where to buy? How to avoid the 9000% mark up?

I hate and love my canopy at the same time. Its great for keeping stuff dry and not haveing to tie loose crap around, but makes visability crappy, harder to get stuff in and out and when you got to haul big or odd stuff your either limited or have to take it off.

If you find one (for the right price), can stand the looks or don't have to worry about height, try to find a high-top one. MUCH more roomy inside, makes a good "roughing it" camper as well.

I have been thinking about getting one too. But I can't see the $ 2,000 canopy thing some of these guy's buy as an option. I wonder where I can buy the aluminum corragated sheeting square frame type cheapy canopy? Something easy on/off for camping and such? Hijack far from off:flipoff:

Used car/truck lots.

Many times a lot will get a truck that won't sell with the canopy on so they take it off and the truck will sell.

I was shopping for one and these were the places to go. The small time used car lots. :awesomework:

just keep and eye on craigslist.. A lot of the time people will try and make some of their initial gouging back, but others are just ready to unload for a couple hundred bucks for a decent canopy. Just make sure it has the back glass. It usually costs as much as the canopy if you have to replace the damn thing.

I paid $225 off CL for mine almost 5 yrs ago now (guy wanted $350), and although it doesn't match, it is an extended height fiberglass one, with all its glass intact...It is heavy and requires 2 people to get on or off, but makes the ride alot nicer when it is on there! :redneck:

I have a nice 8 foot fiberglass canopy with all smooth windows for a fullsize for $200.

This is where I scored mine. I found a nice fiberglass one in the correct color and size for my 2000 chev at a used car lot for 200$

Damn thing was like 1400 new.

I had one for the truck that is now my wheeler, same thing, sometimes it was awesome and some times it sucked. My intent is to set up acable system in the garage to peel it off ehen I want.

Nice. Doubt Illget that lucky since Im prettt specific on what I want, but yeah the prices are stupid.

I found mine at a Junk Yard $40. for it fiberglass and carpeted inside. Wrong color but I just scuffed it and gave it the Krylon touch!Just another place might check though.

I'm in the same boat, but nobody has a used canopy that will fit my 5' bed :booo:

I like them from Labor day to Memorial day. Nice to keep stuff dry and hidden during hunting season and wood cutting season. They can be a pain in the summer. Try and find one that has the side windows that open, forget the bug mesh. I like the durability of fiberglass. I've had my best luck with car dealers that take one off before they sell the truck. Usually a couple hundred bucks. Be patient.
