What is so weired about the Clausing? We have several in our shop. Looks like a typical "B"pillar lathe with a foot brake.

Right after college I lived in this dump of a roach-infested house for a couple of years. On our front porch a spider somewhat like that made a nice big, beautiful web that I made my roommate leave alone. I kept him like a pet, named him Oscar. I would catch all the roaches in the house that would crawl all over me at night and wake me up and run them out to Oscar's web, throw them in, and watch him pounce. It was fricking amazing watching how efficient he was at envenoming them, wrapping them up, and going to town sucking their guts out. He could polish off a roach 4 times his size in about 3 days and when he was done he would carefully cut each strand of web holding it up until it was hanging by just one thread. He would then cut that one thread, drop the carcass in a pile of other carcasses on the ground, and meticulously repair his web where the roach was and wait for the next. I took a lot of close-up hi-res photos of him because he was so beautiful. I'll have to find some of them. When I would toss a roach in the web he could make it from any point on the outskirts of the web to the middle, and this web was the size of my arm-span, in under a second flat.

I first adopted Oscar when he was about the size of a pea. I kept him a little over a year and eventually he just disappeared on his own. When he did he took his web with him. The last time I saw him he was the size of my hand thanks to being well fed on the steady diet of roaches. My room mate swears he didn't dispose of him, but I know he hated him there and he disappeared on a weekend that I went wheeling. I had my suspicions. :)
